Application of legislation in ECCE Setting
 Child Care Act Regulation 2016- This is the legislation which promotes the welfare of
children who are not receiving basic needs. They ensure the protection of child in
emergency conditions and also helping children's who need special help. This act
includes the pre-school services(Burns and et.al, 2018). Preschool services include
childminders, day nurseries and other similar activities for children. This act describes the
standard of health, welfare and safety of children's. They focus on both the mental and
physical health of the child. They also provide medical assistance and first aid facilities to
children. They also provide staff for taking care of children's. This act is also applied to
ECCE by providing preschool services to children.
 Children Act 2001- This act ensures the mental and physical development of children's. It
includes the health, medical and development needs of children in preschool years. They
also provide voluntary care and needs to the children which is unlikely to provide at
home. It also provides experienced doctors and nurses for treatment of children, They
used to charge less fees in comparison with private hospitals. After pandemic, they
ensure that proper sanitization is done for students at there schools and all the precautions
are taken by the institutes for the safety of children's.

 The Childcare Act of Ireland (1991)- These act promotes the welfare of those children
who are not receiving proper protection and care. It also provides accommodations to the
homeless children. It also provides experienced staff which helps children's by providing
them full day care and part-time care. The staff also helps children in studies for the
mental development of the children. They are also applying to the ECCE with the help of
government organization, non-government organization and private educational
institutions. They are also providing proper infrastructure for the growth and
development of children's.
Importance of Legislations
According to me, Legislation is the important source for making laws. It gives the
flexibility to create new laws, and make changes in existing laws. It is important because it is a
strong tool that solves the problems of the citizens(Brady and et.al, 2019). In my context,
legislation allows to take efficient decisions for the citizens by creating and enforcing the law. It
gives the brief and easy understanding of the laws which are enacted. By legislation social
control is possible. The main reason behind legislation is to maintain standards and control the
actions of people. These are made to limit the use of resources like funding. It sets the rules and
norms at all the level of the government.

Task-6 Critically Analysing the ICT Used in Childcare
Types of ICT
Information communication and technology helps in growth and development of
children. There are many Tools which are used for the development of child.
 Interactive websites: There are lot of websites which are made for the development of
child. Web portal that helps in development of childhood are Starfall, Fuel The Brain etc.
This web portal provides the educational games which helps children by improving there
reading skills and introducing them with new words.
 Imaginative play: Imaginative play is the video recorder tool used for the development of
children's(Tammisalo and Rotkirch, 2022). It records the daily activities performed by
child which increases the creativity among them and makes them better in performing
daily activities. Children receive inputs on the acts and also get appraisal which helps in
increasing there confidence.
 Robotics: Robotics is the technology used by children to develop the coding skills. It is
fun app used for learning and play. It helps in solving problem and also increases the
abilities in children's.
 Programmable toys: Programmable toys is a tool which helps the children to behave in a
certain way. It helps the child to learn things quickly as it has functional transparency.

 Interactive Smartboards: Smartboards are used by the young childrens as it operates
through finger touch. Children can use it to make drawings. It also helps in improving the
writing skills of childrens.
Analysing the Arguments for and against the ICT
According to, Kassim and Samah, (2021). that ICT can help the children in learning
different aspect of the life. It helps in developing problem-solving skills and creativity among
children. They can also learn and play together by using ICT, which improves communication
skills. Moreover, ICT focus on personalized learning which can diversify the learning
opportunities for the child and also providing childrens with special needs. Authors also believes
that effective use of ICT in childhood also depends upon the skills and knowledge of parents and
teachers.
On the other side, Shah, Rafique and Bano, (2020)claim that there are some downfalls in
the introduction of ICT in childhood care and this include Cost: For introducing ICT to child, it
needs increasing number of funds and resources. The cost contains with laptops and other
technology advancements needs a huge budget which cannot be affordable by some schools.
 Misuse: Some of childrens also misuse the use of ICT by staying away from educational
purposes and visiting social networking sites such as Instagram and Facebook.
 Literacy in teachers: This is one of the reasons which affects the potential of children as
teachers are not aware about the technologies which hinders the process of childrens
learning. They must be provided with the proper trainings so they can help children in
increasing there productivity and capabilities.

Subject: Discussion on the use of ICT in the childcare setting
The current memo is written to conduct a meeting to discuss the policy on the use ICT
in childcare settings. The meeting will focus on the five important agendas of the childcare
which are for creating awareness among staff, to maintain the high level of standards practises,
for having major compliance with health and safety, for optimum utilisation of resources
through identifying right technologies and for achieving goals for the growth and development
of child. ICT helps children's to take responsibilities of self-learning, and to present a work with
high standards (Burns and McGregor, 2019). The main aim behind the policy it to enhance the
creativity of child. The policy must be made regarding the appropriate use of cell phones,
cameras, audio and video recorders, laptops, computers etc. ICT offers children's in learning
different opportunities such as helps in improving communication and removes language
barriers, develops a wide range of information, and ideas, works on projects with higher
confidence and understanding and using such tools which makes them involved in physical and
practical activities.
The policy document must include the principles, strategies and aims for Information
Communication and Technology. Policy must be made which helps in identifying the potential
of ICT in children's learning (Brady and et.al, 2019). For discussing more on policy we are
arranging a meeting on 3rd floor in conference room 3B, on September 9. Every staff is
requested to come to the meeting with the ideas regarding the policy. Once the policy is
discussed, the team will implement it. This meeting will be held to discuss on these agenda's
and to accomplish these agendas.

USE OF ICT
The main outcome that is derived from this is that it is helpful in gaining the reliability
clarity among staff regarding ICT so that effective principles, strategies and aims explaining has
become possible.
Further improvement for next meeting involves focus on the physical and mental health
of the child so that achieving the overall target of growth and development of child so that
usage of technology for rural children can be done in effective pattern.
