Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment focuses on planned learning activities for early childhood education, specifically targeting preschool children. It outlines various resources and strategies to enhance learning across different domains. The assignment highlights the importance of literacy development, suggesting the use of storytelling, audio stories, and interactive games like ‘Toddler Talk’ and ‘Chatter Matters’ to improve vocabulary and comprehension. For numeracy, the assignment recommends games like ‘Super Sorting Pie’ and the use of double-sided geoboards and colored dominoes to teach basic mathematical concepts. Furthermore, it explores resources for ICT lessons, emphasizing the use of smart classes with projectors, educational videos, and project-based learning. The assignment also references relevant literature to support its recommendations, including works by Bodrova and Leong (2018), Donohue (2014), and Owens (2016), as well as online resources like Primaryresources.co.uk. The goal is to provide a well-rounded approach to early childhood education, equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to create engaging and effective learning experiences.

Resources for literacy:
Donohue (2014), has found out that, stories, visual tools can be considered effective
resources to develop child literacy. Owens (2016), consider that, indoor games like card games
or board games can cast upon a better impact on children while developing literacy. Hence, in a
literacy development plan, first there should be story telling classes, in which children will be
told stories, in this case audio stories can be used as one of the resources. The responsibility of
the teacher will be assisting the children to understand words and pronunciation. After that card
or board games will be played for vocabulary so that the children could easily know the use of
the new words learnt through audio stories. In this case, ‘Toddler Talk’, ‘Chatting with
Children’, ‘Chatter Matters’ can be used as resources. These are the activity packs available in
the market that could be used for communication a swell as literary development of children.
These packs contain mini posters cards containing vocabulary games and DVDs to assist the
literacy development of children. Finally, there may be visualization or drawing class in which,
the appropriate resource will be smart class and images shown on the computer screen. Either the
child has to guess the word after the image is shown on the computer screen, or the reverse
process will be used where the child has to draw a picture correlating it with the word visible on
the computer screen.
Resources for numeracy:
There are several tools that can be used to teach pre-school children numerical
calculations. One of them is, indoor games like ‘Super Sorting Pie’. This game is very useful to

introduce numbers and also addition and subtraction to pre-school children (Bodrova and Leong
2018).
Double-Sided Assorted Geoboards, can also be used to develop basic ideas about geometric
shapes, and also learn concepts related to geometry.
Coloured Dominoes can also be used for teaching numerical calculations through a game of
matching numbers.

Resources for ICT lessons:
For the purpose of teaching ICT lessons several things can be used as resources. For
example, a smart class where the different parts of the ICT like the several input as well as
output devices will be shown to the child through images on computer screen. In this case, smart
class equipped with projector and computers can be considered as effective resources. Apart
from that, educational videos, project works on ICT lessons, textbook, pictures and posters, can
be considered as appropriate resources for ICT lessons (Primaryresources.co.uk 2019).
