Running head: Personal Narrative
Title: Inner discovery
Towards the end of year 2000, my family shifted to 217 Cedar Swamp Road
Ridgewood, NJ 07450 and I was three years old and unlike my parents, I was quite excited
about my new place. I was not told anything about that, all I knew it is
located in a remote place; at least this much I decipher from the daily
debates of my parents. As far as my memory goes, those days I used to
love cartoons and I always had the knack of drawing them. I was not able to write and I used
to talk to the scribbling as if something very serious is going on. However, now I realise the
way I have evolved from my inner thoughts to enquire about the feasibility of my pragmatic
thoughts.
Back then I was a bit of loner, hardly was there any person who used to talk to me,
thus I think the excitement was quite an obvious thing. However, for my parents it was
different, I do not remember clearly but sometime I think I heard my mother weeping down
the aisle, but never truly understood them. Then came the day when we were supposed to
shift and my father was riding the car, true to every words,
the place was remote, but none of them told me about the
beauty and wonder that it contained. The knack for paintings
ever left me, however it shifted form cartoon characters to
landscape and more of the natural things.
I almost decided that that I will be an artist and never really paid much attention to
studies. At this point of time, I really felt perplexed because there was no one who could
really help me out. My parents were baffled for reasons and our opinions completely
diverged not only in this issue but also on several issues. I
never left like staying in house anymore, I wanted to leave,

and that feeling was for real. My friends were there to help me out but could not advise me,as
the matter needed an expert advice. Little did I know that almighty has other plans, he did
hear my prayers but very subtly. I used to paint because it used to make me feel empowered,
but my teacher taught me and it is also through words so you can express yourself. In my
initial days the choice of my career especially emerged from my instinct, but hardly was I
aware of market values.
The nature of work is changing and my teacher made to realise this. He also told me
that in order to purse my passion I need to survive the competitive
wrath of the market, which I can do only if I have inculcated
subsidiary skills. His constant ideas had a lasting impression on me
today wherever I stand I feel this is because of his foresightedness
and his love for me. Now I stand as a successful writer who is also a good painter, while I
scribble my words I sometimes create an image out of that. The fact that is realised one is
never too old to hunt down for a passion.
