1LACK OF VEGETABLE CONSUMPTION AMONG CHILDREN
Research problem
The Australian guide to healthy eating has set a specific recommendation of 5 serves of
vegetables in young age group (Eatforhealth.gov.au, 2018). The lack of vegetable consumption
among the children leads to many physical problems affecting their growth such as malnutrition
of certain nutrients. There is a major reason that many children are not even aware of the amount
of serving of vegetables in a day (Sydney.edu.au, 2018). There are many children’s who prefer
mostly eating junk food instead of vegetables stating a simple reason of disliking vegetables (The
Sydney Morning Herald, 2018). This leads to increase in obesity among this age group. Many
people in Australia revealed that in spite of buying vegetables, the younger children do not prefer
eating them. The availability of vegetables in the country is sufficient but it does not rise up to
give a boost in the increase consumption of vegetables among the children. It is seen that the
consumption level is more among the adult as compared to young age group
Research Method
The research method of this research is the quantitative research as the research methods
has to take in to account the sample and prepare a statistical chart of the eating and buying habits
of the vegetables. Since the qualitative method mostly uses open ended research data it is not
feasible for this research.
Hypothesis
H 0: Taste of vegetables does not affect the consumption of vegetables among the children
