Overview
The current article is an attempt to encapsulate the surrounding impacts of The One Belt, One
Road (OBOR) which is popularly known as BRL. Developed on the lines of “Silk Road of 21st
Century,” this ambitious project has the power to redefine the relationship of China with 100
countries with the help of direct means. The success of this project has the power to establish
China in a new way in the trade markets of the world and particularly in the countries across
Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East (Mobley 53-54).
Introduction
The article explores the reasons behind the assertive foreign policy of China while highlighting
various loans given to BLR countries and the countries that are stakeholders in the Malacca
Dilemma. The assertiveness of the foreign policy is judged with the help of various statements
made by the authorities handling Chinese foreign affairs. This article critically examines some of
the press releases, official statements and the speeches of the “men holding the authority.” While
considering the foreign policy of China under Xi Jinping, this article pinpoints some practices
that can be considered malefic in nature because of the pressure tactics involved in them
(Mobley 60).
While taking an account of the speech made of Xi Jinping in the 19th Party Congress, the author
encapsulated the undertone of the BRl initiative from a diverse point of view. He examined the
salient parts of this initiative by exploring the commitment of this program towards bringing a
harmonious interface in the world trade. However, in the same breath, it also pinpoints certain
conditions that can be termed as a deliberate attempt of Chinese officials to create predominance

in certain regions. It explores the fundamentals of energy mercantilism and policy of divide and
conquers adopted by China with an intention to come up with the desired control over the trade
in the BLR Region (Mobley 65).
After presenting an account of the financial stakes associated with the BRL, this article explores
the impact of BRL on four neighboring countries with the help of systematic research with an
intention to generalize the findings of the result.
Research Objectives
This article presents a conclusive research report that covers the following aspects of BRL.
1. The funding procedures associated with various BRL Projects with an intention to
understand a standard protocol.
2. The shift in the foreign policy of China in the wake of BRL initiatives, how this policy is
becoming more assertive and the inclination is towards safeguarding the international
trade interests of China after the commissioning of BRL as a fully-fledged operational
unit.
3. The exploration of the investment models that are prevailing in two south Asian countries
and two Southeast Asian Countries.
4. An exploration of the evolution of BRL trends from the purview of the Asian
Infrastructure Investment Bank and its impact on the international image of China
(Mobley 55).
The hindsight of the objective of this research presents a scenario that can be generalized with an
intention to develop an overview of the impact of BRL initiatives in China. Researchers also

tried to develop a set of recommendations to mitigate some of the negative impacts of BRL as
they were visible in the research outcomes.
Research Methodology
This research program followed the methodology of a systematic literature review. The main
focus was on three areas, the researchers divided the literature review into three parts. Under the
first part, they investigated the international viewpoints and implications of the BRL. After
drawing some conclusions from this part, they examined the methods associated with the
financing of these projects. In order to substantiate primary observation, the researchers
specifically explored the case study of four countries with an intention to draw the parallels in
the operations and figure out the gaps between the claims, proposed intentions and the reality of
various undertakings (Mobley 66) .
The scope of this systematic literature review covers all the major sections of international
polity, globalization and economic equations prevailing in the areas of BRL in the pre and post
scenario of various operations. After an in-depth study of the facts, statements, and impacts, the
researchers developed a list of trends and compared them with the list of the AIIB findings.
Literature Review
The address of Xi Jinping during the 19th party congress can be considered as the baseline of this
research. The rest of the sources like acted as the corroborating mediums or the mediums
pinpointing the conflicts. The researchers took the support of a report published in “China
Today” in the year 2018 (Mobley 53). The data presented by BRI officials is the second most
important source to judge the financial implications associated with the research. In order to add
objectivity in the opinions, certain standpoints published by the United Nations and other

international bodies. The reports related to the Chinese Military policy are also a big contributor.

path where UN authorities and other regulatory bodies can play the role of mediator to improve
the status of BRL countries. The conclusion part of the report clearly states that the initiatives
made by China under the project of the BRL can be streamlined and the resources can be
channelized to present amicable economic conditions of the countries by mitigating the probable
negative impacts that can be termed as malefic.
Summary
It is believed that China is misusing its powers and forcing many countries to become a part of
this initiative by creating a BRL partner country dependency. This article explores the weak
bargaining conditions of some of the countries that have become an essential part of BRL
(Mobley 54). This article presents an account of these efforts made by Chinese foreign
policymakers to create a favorable equilibrium in the operational regions of the BLR while
