The paper begins by outlining the central question and thesis, which is that meditation serves as a powerful means of connecting with God, as illustrated through a case study of a father and daughter. It then presents a biblical-theological argument, supported by relevant scripture and theological resources, to demonstrate the link between meditation and spiritual insight. The paper addresses potential objections to this perspective, providing reasoned responses to counter them. Catholic Christology: Knowing God through Meditation
“Christian Prayer tries above all to meditate on the mysteries of Christ, as in lectio divina or
the rosary.”
Joseph and Ria, a combo of Christian religion, father and daughter lived alone in a small but
a happily filled up house which spread positivism and gratefulness all around. Ria was a
young girl, aged 9 years and his father was around 35 years or more. Joseph was a professor
of History in a renowned university carrying an experience of more than 5 years. They were
quite disciplined and obedient in their church ceremonies and visited church on a regular
weekly basis. Ria being a kid, she found visiting the Church quite boring and used to take all
the instructions of Father causally. His father observed her such behaviour regularly and kept
a note of it. Joseph was a religious man and for him his beliefs on God and salvation was pure
and divine. Joseph’s father was someway associated with Church activities and he was a
great follower of Jesus. But due to generation gap, Ria didn’t had that faith and belief in Jesus
as her father and grandfather had.
One morning Ria made an ex-cuse for not visiting the Church. Her father took it casually and
when Ria felt that this ex-use thing could work for her on every week, she practiced it for
almost a month. Her father wanted to give her some time to realize the importance of visiting
the Church regularly on her own but he was wrong. On the fifth week, when Ria thought she
had been successful in fooling her father, her father said “today I won’t visit the Church, will
stay with you and will spend some quality time with you my daughter.” Ria was excited and
she grabbed her father with a hug. Joseph asked Ria, “let’s try something new today, lets
meditate.” Ria after giving a low reaction agreed to it and they both sat for mediation. After
explaining the entire process to Ria, Joseph added “Visiting church is not the only way to

know Jesus, my dear and gave a smile.” 1 Ria, trying to avoid the situation, said let’s start it
father and they both practiced meditation following all the rules. As Joseph was done with his
meditation, and opened his eyes, he witnessed that tear was rolling down Ria’s cheeks with a
smile and charm on her face. After breakfast and all the daily stuffs were done for the
morning, Ria went to her father and hugged him tightly, she said, meditation could be the
best way to connect with God (Christ). Today I witnessed all those stories of Jesus which I
have been listening at my bed time by you since my childhood, with my closed eyes. Jesus is
everywhere, no matter where we are, in the Church or at home, all that is needed is the vision
to acknowledge his presence2 Joseph felt content and he said “Dear, did meditation helped
you acknowledge Christology? Did meditation helped you in knowing God and his salvation?
