ABSTRACT
The theology of Christian can be described as the theology related with the beliefs and
practice of Christians. It concentrates on the texts of the New Testament as well as the Old
Testament and Christian tradition. The theology utilizes the biblical exegesis, argument and
rational analysis. The Essay has covered the involvement of Christians in politics. It has also
described that the reasons due to which people living in Christian community get involved in
authority and power. Further, it has explained the theology of Christian as beliefs that has
various objectives. Moreover, it has described the issue of homosexual marriages.

INTRODUCTION
Theology can be described as the study related with characteristics of divine and beliefs
in religion. It is also a part of study in seminars and universities. The word theology is derived
from theos that means god and logia means discourse. A Christian is the individual who follows
and believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ (Cassidy, 2015). The Report will outline the
involvement of Christian in politics. Further, it will also outline the discussion regarding the
issue of homosexual marriage.

abortion.
The link of politics and religion is at the centre of the real world of the activities of
human beings. The tendency of theories on theology has been to reduce religion to politics and
vice-versa. The difficulties of modern politics is a type of challenge mainly to protestants
because they are not able to achieve the level of economies of scale that is required to develop
coherent philosophies and practices of politics. Rapid growth at global level market creates
pressure on leaders of church that are unfavourable to ethical reflection. Christian politicians
always have the ability to withdraw the lines of political engagement (Brook, 2018).
Even the level of attendance in church has reduces, the influence of religion mainly the
impact of socially conservative Christians that are involved in political parties remained
powerful. The traces of Christians has been present in both the recent past and remote of western
democratic politics that today they have become live as if god did not exist. There are various
ways in which authors have formed the relationship between politics and Christianity. Moreover,
there are some authors that have view that, Christians have less interest in politics.
The history related with god's interaction is inextricably intertwined with politics. Most
of the political theologies provides a normative ethic for engagement of Christians in politics.
Reflections related with politics is unavoidable for Christians because every person live under
particular form of political authority. Further, the churches of Christians have occupied space in
public. There are various political concepts like judgement, kingship and citizenship etc. that are
used to develop the relationship between the almighty and creation of god. Moreover, the above
concepts have an impact on the view of Christian towards the politics (Anstey, 2019). The
decisions of politics are made by people daily. Political theology also focuses on how Christian

should think about politics. Further, it will be better to related the thoughts of Christian regarding
politics with Christian political action. There are different authors that have argued that,
Christians are affected by politics. Therefore, they can and should participate in politics. Political
parties are developed by human beings whom Christians confirm to have been developed in the
image of god. Politics cannot be separated from ethical consideration. Further, Christian
community argues that, socially weak and threatened will always target on the particular concern
of church and it will always focus on special responsibility for the weaker members of the
society (Davies, 2017).
Moreover, every Christian should be free from everything to support any type of ideals and
political ideas. Even in church, people are involved in politics because human beings are
involved in political activities. Christians leaving in communities are conscious regarding the
requirements of civil community and importance of politics because they know that humanity
need to have rulers and kings over it. Therefore, it can be said that, church have some type of
service towards the state. Further, the Christians should subordinate themselves to power and
authorities.
The theology of Christian refers to the theology of beliefs and practice of Christians. It
focuses on the texts of the New Testament as well as the Old Testament and Christian tradition.
The theology uses biblical exegesis, argument and rational analysis. Theologians performs the
study of Christian theology for various purpose such as to understand Christian tenets in better
way, to perform comparison between traditions and Christianity. Further, it also aims to support
reforms in Catholic churches etc (McGrath, 2016).
Christian is wrongly or rightly perceived to be a spiritual leader and to surpass material
and therefore politics. Christian to be involved in politics is inevitable. Politics is unavoidable.
The absence of Christian in politics implies that, people belongs to Christian community are not
a part of decision making process because the things that affects the individual in civil
community also affects the same individual in Christian community (McGrath, 2016). History
has shown the faith of Christian that has been reactionary instead of proactive. The relationship
between politics and Christianity is very complex. Church has played mixed role related with
history of political liberty. The withdrawal of Christians has opened a moral vacuum which is
super sensitive to influence the government to move outside the view that has been designated by
god. Politics creates influence on society, government and also influences culture due to

teachings of Bible (Marshall, 2015). There are various reasons due to which Christians involve in
politics. The world view of Christian speaks regarding all the areas of life. It provides complete
understanding of reality including political engagement. Further, politics is unavoidable and
Christian should involve in the political process by using rightful authority, policies and
advocating for laws etc. that helps to improve human flourishing. Other than this, politics is
considered as one of the major area in which people belongs to Christian community show their
love to neighbour. There is need for participation of Christian in politics. Good government
promotes environment contributing for people to live peacefully whereas, bad government
fosters instability. However, Christians affirms the influence and promotes government for doing
good and restrain bad things. Though Christianity is not related with political program but it
provides a certain way to think about the state and role of politics in development. Christians
have view that, politics plays a major role regarding state such as improving coordination,
security, administration of justice and defence. Christianity critics the view that majority
determines justice and truth. Another important component of the vision of Christians towards
government is the commitment towards common good. It involves social and political conditions
that support communities, individuals, families etc. to reach their fulfilment.
The term homosexuality marriage refers to the marriage of same sex person. Same sex
marriages are performed in various countries such as Australia, Belgium, South Africa, United
Kingdom etc. Further, the introduction of marriage equality is different by jurisdiction and it has
came through changes to marriage law based on equality, recognition etc. that has allowed by
existing law of marriage. Main supporters of homosexuality marriage are rights of human beings
and civil rights of organisations, scientific communities (Perry, 2018). Moreover, the opponents
of same sex marriages are religious fundamentalist groups. Religious community groups like
conservative religious community like Australian Family Association are in opposition towards
the issue such as same sex marriage etc.
The blessing of same sex marriages is an issue regarding which Christian churches are in
continuous disagreement. While there are various church bodies that have different practices and
teachings. There are various theological views of Christians that has supported same sex
marriages. It is a positive good that stands alongside the straight marriage as a disclosure if god's
self in the world. Support for marriage of same sex couples have come from Christian
denominations that are considered as liberal. There are different religious organisations that

support homosexual marriages such as the Icelandic Church, the Church of Australia etc. Similar
sex couples who are married have challenged various religious organisations that have excluded
these couples from accessing the facilities that are available to public such as summer camps,
nursing homes, retreat houses, athletic programs etc (Simpkins and O’Donovan, 2016). Religious
arguments in favour and against of homosexual married couples are not equally divided among
liberal groups and religious groups. Other than this, there are certain religious organisations that
support the marriage of same sex people such as the Old Catholic Church, the Church of
Brethren etc. The United Church of Christ is also one of the example. They argues towards the
equality of marriages and it also refer to the Christian values of peace, compassion and love etc.
However, the religiosity is related with opposition in the respect of marriage of same sex
couples.
The survey on homosexual marriages has disclosed wide division between eastern
electorates and Sydney's western electorates. The nation has recorded yes and only seventeen out
of one fifty have voted no. Eleven out of one fifty electorates were belong from Sydney's west.
There are only 26% people that want marriage equality. These voters are most culturally and
ethically diverse in Australia and has high immigrant populations. These factors are strongly
related with no vote. Moreover, homosexual marriages does not fit into the structure of politics
in Australia very well because it does not related with class based issue. The Morrison
government seek to modify the Marriage Act as an element of religious discrimination bill. The
government said that it is unlawful to discriminate people on the basis of religious belief.
The United Church is one of the major church among Australian Christian denominations
to support the marriages of same sex couples. It is the first to offer gay the choice of a church
ceremony. The move of the United Church has come after three months from the date on which
homosexual marriages are made legal in the country also due to the decision taken in national
assembly of the United Church. It provide permission to couples who are being married in the
Church to choose between two authorised liturgies of marriage. The decision reflects diversity of
the view on the matter while upholding the commitment of the United Church to keep diversity
in the unity. Now the church of Australia has stand with United Church of Christ in Canada,
Scottish Episcopal Church, the Methodist Church for supporting the marriage of same sex
couples. The marriage of same sex couples has become legal in Australia on 9th December, 2017.

The marriages of same sex couples has been recognized under federal law that provides similar
rights and duties as given to married couples (Zimmermann, 2017).
In Christianity, there are diverse views on homosexuality. For homosexual marriages,
there is no place within the context of the world view of a Christian. According to the Bible,
marriages are defined as heterosexual. The bible restricts all different types of sexual promiscuity
, homosexual as well as heterosexual. The clarity of truth of god regarding this matter remains
same in spite of the use of various hermeneutic al methods that are developed for justifying the
concept of homosexual behaviour.
CONCLUSION
The above Essay has described that the churches of Christians have occupied space in
public. Political theology also concentrates on how Christian should think about politics. It has
been concluded that there are various authors that have view that Christians are affected by
politics. Theologians conducts the study of Christian theology for various purposes. There are
various countries in which marriages of homosexuals are legal. There are various religious
groups that are in favour or against of marriages of same sex couples.
