Specific Research design
At the time of researching chronic absenteeism and various measures that could be
implemented to improve attendance. Experimental research design could be used to answer the
research questions provided in the article. This is considered to be the best research design as it
provides with the cause and effect of chronic absenteeism in school. Experimental research also
focuses on providing the best possible solutions for the problem. For example, the method of
experimentation provides with the explanation of sending the postcard to the guardians to
enhance them to improve their student's attendance in school. This particular research design also
provides with the results based on the experiment (Rafa, 2017). With the help of this
experimental research design, the research questions given in the article could be quickly
answered. This specific research focused upon the groups of absenteeism that consist of four
factors. This research design will help the educators to utilize the findings for the report.
It is observed that experimental research is generally a quantitative research method. This
particular method is chosen as it aims to investigate the indirect and direct relationship between
school absenteeism, family factors, academic achievement in structural equation model and
personal factors. The quantitative research method conducted a survey where four hundred and
twenty-three high school student has participated (Chang & Romero, 2008). The findings will
help to analyze whether absenteeism was negatively based on academic performance, self or
motivation regulation, goal valuation, attitudes towards teacher and school and academic self-
perception. The quantitative research method is selected as it will provide with the survey results
that will present the difference between student absenteeism concerning parent's income and
educational level. The particular research method will make use of Structural Equation Modeling
(SEM) analysis to gather useful data related to the study. The SEM analysis would help to gain
information about the previous student absenteeism that significantly predicts the achievement of
former academic. The findings related to the study will also provide with the implications and
contributions that will help in gathering data.
The quantitative research method is used as it conducts a survey based on the research
that includes questionnaires not only for the students but also for the guardians (Black, Seder &
Kekahio, 2014). During data collection, the methods will be highly consistent and structured.
This particular research method is suitable as it provides with the results which present the

numerical data that could be statistically analyzed. As the researcher tries to focus upon the
relationship between student’s absenteeism and parent's income and educational level thus, the
quantitative methodology would be best applied to the research questions or problems.
Quantitative method is chosen as it helps to understand, explain and explore the phenomena.
This method is suitable for this particular study as it helps in gathering data through content
analysis, observations, surveys, and interviews (Edwards, 2013). Thus, the survey results will
provide with the causes and effects of students and absenteeism in schools as the quantitative
research is an experimental based method that will help in gathering relevant data related to the
study.
