Two chronic diseases that have plagued your community
Chronic diseases are diseases of long duration and generally slow progression. There are
enormous diseases in Kansas City, Missouri which includes cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, oral
diseases and other health problems as well. The two major chronic diseases that have plagued the
community are Cancer and Heart disease. In addition to these 7 out of 10 leading causes of
chronic diseases which constitutes about two thirds which 63% of all deaths among Kansas. This
pattern of the diseases is the major reason that around 60% of the people in the Kansas Missouri
are suffering from deaths. These chronic diseases have created havoc in the city (Kansas, 2015).

Handle the programs
In order to curb the diseases the officials are responsible for making the health a major
concern among the people living in the city of the Kansas. The public health and the officials of

the Kansa division are involved in making the levels of the chronic diseases low. For this
purpose the division takes the initiative with the regular programmers on health. The bureau of
Disease control and Prevention was created to analyze the data and outbreak the investigations.
The air quality programs are also initiated by the health department (NelsoN & Staggers, 2016).
From the year 2012 there had been a lot of improvement and there was a decrease in
heart diseases. The primary care and rural health workforce was trained to specially handle the
emergency situations. Thereafter in the year 2015, Kansas City won a Culture of Health Prize
from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for creating awareness among the people through
broadcasting and interactive meetings (Kansas, 2015).
Improvements in the program
The steps that can be taken by the department and other health officials to improve the
programmers are outlined below.
There shall be proper addressing of upstream community and the issues prevailing at the
political level to cater the social factors and contribute to the poor health outcomes.
The early detection of the diseases can be a major development in limit the chances of,
diseases being converted into chronic ones. This will help in understanding he real cause of the
disease to provide the exact cure.
The people living in Kansas shall be made aware on the monthly basis through these types of
programs but not just through camps, rather the health officials shall make checkup compulsory
for all the families to fight against the chronic diseases at the initial stages itself (Bertram, Blase,
& Fixsen, 2015).

The racial inequality is one of the major factors prevailing in Kansas and on the contrary the
programs and the interventions are not understood by the people who understand only the native
language. Therefore the programs or the awareness programs shall be conducted in different
languages and the native people shall be involved in the practical aspects so that they can
understand the importance of the programs in a better manner (Wallerstein, Duran, Minkler &
Oetzel, 2017).
