Practical Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment presents a teaching and facilitation plan focused on obesity education for adults aged 20-35, a demographic identified as being particularly vulnerable to weight gain due to lifestyle factors. The plan outlines the objectives, content, teaching strategies, and evaluation methods for a 2-hour education session. The primary objective is to raise awareness about obesity, its causes, symptoms, and prevention measures. The teaching strategy involves a lecture incorporating discussions and group work, supported by a PowerPoint presentation with images illustrating the medical complications of obesity. A short test will be administered at the end of the session to evaluate the participants' understanding of the material. The assignment also includes a rationale for choosing the target audience, citing statistics on obesity prevalence and the impact of technology on dietary habits and physical activity levels. References in APA format are provided to support the information presented.

AUDIENCE: age. They are focused on building a career and being successful, and most
of them forget their health. Proper nutrition and physical activity are not a
priority (Perreault & Pi-Sunyer, 2017).
According to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
obesity is now recognized as a chronic disease. Obesity has become a
severe medical issue. It is estimated that 42.8% of middle-aged adults are
affected by obesity (Raynor & Champagne, 2016). The CDC has also
estimated that children who are obese become obese adults.
In addition, advancement in technology has increased access to fast food
and junk food. With a click of a button, food can be delivered at home
within less than thirty minutes. This has encouraged more adults to eat junk
food instead of preparing a home-cooked meal (i Figuls et al., 2018)
Also, technology has influenced the transport sector. With applications like
Uber, it is possible to be picked from home and dropped at work without
doing much activity. This has reduced physical activity among the adults
and resulted in excessive weight gain
Obesity can result in several health complications such as diabetes, health
failure, cardiovascular issues, hypertension, and even arthritis. These
conditions can be challenging to treat, and often, they affect the daily
routine of the individual (Wadden, Tronieri & Butryn, 2020).
