INTRODUCTION
A local cinema theater needs a mobile application to enable its customers to book for a
movie of their choice to watch. The app should show the customers the different times the movie
will be shown, the theatre where it will be shown and also offer a flexible payment method and
provide a general layout of the cinema to assist new clients to identify their venue.
The requirements of the app are that it must offer satisfactory booking services, it should
be simple to use for both new and proficient users. The mobile application should as well offer
safe and secure payment methods. Additionally, it should be responsive and interactive in terms
of showing the users progress and giving instant feedback. (“8 Characteristics Of Successful
User Interfaces · The Usability Post,” n.d.)
The purpose of this report, therefore, is to clearly explain how we designed the cinema
hall application app and justify the choice of our interface and show how it meets requirements
and improves its usability.
CINEMA HALL APPLICATION
The app will be used by clients who intend to book for movies at the cinema hall. It will
be used by both first-time and proficient users and therefore must be designed in a way that is
easy to operate by new users without the need to train them.
The design principles that the app must exhibit are satisfaction, simplicity, security, and
interactivity. Satisfaction ensures the app performs its intended purpose well without limitations
or hindrances. Simplicity ensures that the app is easy to use and does not require a longer
learning curve for the users to be able r operate it. App users would like to operate in a safe
environment especially when they are making payments hence security is another aspect that
must be put into consideration. Finally, interactivity in terms of feedback and prompts helps the
user to operate the app well by keeping them informed on any action they take. (“A
Comprehensive Guide To Mobile App Design,” 100AD)
All the above principles are reflected in the design of the cinema all app. Satisfaction is
ensured by giving the customer the choice to choose which movie to watch at what time and
allowing them different payment methods. Simplicity is provided by the use of a clean interface
with few components which are familiar to the users. While the app is designed to allow safe

payments the users who feel unsafe can pay at the helpdesk and it is interactive enough to allow
clients to change their decision and move back.
With the above design, the cinema app achieves the interface usability goals of clarity,
consistency, familiarity, responsiveness and ease of navigation. This is to say a good interface
should be clear and concise, maintain a consistent appearance across pages and use familiar
controls. It should as well be responsive and interactive and have navigation buttons to move
through the app.(“Shneiderman’s Eight Golden Rules of Interface Design,” n.d.) The cinema hall
app is clear, maintains consistent layout has navigation buttons and provides interactivity through
the helpdesk. The QR code improves the security feature. (“Strategies for The Security of Online
Payments in E-commerce,” n.d.)
The design of this app is informed by the best practices of designing user-friendly
interfaces that are simple and efficient to use. (Shneiderman et al., 2016). With these factors put
into place, it improves usability and user experience,(“User experience with web browsing on
small screens: Experimental investigations of mobile-page interface design and homepage design
for news websites - ScienceDirect,” n.d.). hence the advantages of cinema hall app are that it is
easy to use for new customers and it’s also interactive.
We, therefore, recommend the use of this app since it meets the minimum requirements
for best practice of designing a mobile app hence increasing its usability and improves
satisfaction and user experience while ensuring security. It exhibits features as those used in
Amazon's mobile e-commerce mobile app.(“Amazon Mobile Shopping Apps,” n.d.)
CONCLUSION
It is true to summarize that cinema hall application is designed to provide the best user
experience as it employs the simplistic approach of interface design. It provisions for clarity,
familiarity, consistency, and responsiveness. (“(PDF) Learning Mobile App Design from User
Review Analysis,” n.d.)
