Executive Summary
The word 5G has been used in order to define mobile networks further than LTE networks for
the next-generation communication system. The ITU has published multiple news and articles on
the 5G technology norms that it known as IMT-2020 system for the network. The 5G based
network is grounded on the LTE network used in 4G technology. 5G works on high-frequency
waves and has accessibility for high-frequency waves with spectrum in mm for mm radio waves,
range exchange is also carried out with the wavelengths of the LTE system (Osseiran et al.,
2016). Implementation of 5G technology has been discussed in this report for the knowledge and
awareness about the latest technologies available for the best and high-speed communication
network operations.

Ericsson and its role in 5G based industries
Ericsson has been providing service from a very long time and lies in the major ICT service
provider across the world. Moreover. Through the development and implementation of the latest
technologies and methods for better services and friendly environment along with easy-to-use
features for the users. It has presented its values in the industry available worldwide based on
global competition between market competitors and their knowledge. It considers that having a
team of diverse management with different backgrounds as one of the vital factors for the
success of the organization. Also, it believes that the team with the best management skills must
be placed in different locations that are crucial for the development of Ericsson's (Ericsson,
2019).
Customer and industry requirements for 5G installations are increasing substantially in order to
fulfil the demands, requests with the help of latest techniques and methods for the high-speed
communication system across the world through optical fibres and microwave technology for the
exchange and transfer of communication network at different geographical regions. All these
factors resulted in the implementation of 5G technology by Ericsson to lead this competitive
market.

5G Technology and their comparison with current technology
The idea of 5G technology has been introduced in order to provide the high-speed
communication network as well as better utilization of spectrum along with the elimination of all
the drawbacks lies with existing communication system and networks available worldwide.
Addition of more spectrum along with existing spectrum which is currently in use for the
enhancement of bandwidth as well as speed for the data transfer and communication in-between
two or more networks and end-user (Edwards, 2019).
Figure 1: Spectrum for 5G communication technology
(Triggs, 2019)
The foundation of 5G technology has been done over millimetre wave and spectrum with Sub-
6GHz for WiFi, 1GHz for Low-bands and available 4G spectrum. It has been done for the
utilization of huge amount of high-frequency waves and spectrum which are unused in the
existing 4G system. It can be analyzed in the above image.

Existing Technology
4G Technology
4G is existing technology working as an embedded worldwide network capable of providing a
complete IP alternative, providing customers with a better option for voice communication,
information and distributed multimedia on a "normal, anywhere" basis. The next wireless
generation (i.e. 4G) promote broadband output and allow multimedia voice as well as video
exchange. It has increased data communication rates much more in comparison with 2G, 3G and
other generations of communication techniques. Another name of 4G technology is LTE system
widely used by different service providers and telecommunication industries across the world
(Guo, 2017).
Figure 3: Existing 4G Technology
(Agarwal and Agarwal, 2014)
4G networks are focused on the fundamental concept of IP address to provide customers with
facilities centred on a package-based architecture which has to mean “Each person linked to the
web or Internet must consume a specific IP address allotted for the entire duration of session
connected from anywhere and at any time.
