2020 Business Analytics in Practice: CITES Project Report

This project report, conducted as part of a Business Analytics in Practice course, focuses on the application of data visualization to analyze the international trade of endangered species. The study uses data from CITES to create insights and recommendations for three personas: a UNODC coordinator, a Wildlife Protection Charity (WPC) coordinator, and a PR manager. The report utilizes Tableau software to visualize data related to import and export trends, providing answers to specific questions for each persona, such as improving wildlife trade policies, strengthening legal frameworks, and raising awareness. The analysis includes recommendations for policy changes, charitable support allocation, and retail strategies. The project aims to demonstrate how data visualization can be used to inform strategic decisions and address real-world problems related to the decline of endangered species. The report also includes an analysis of the challenges faced by PR managers in maintaining relationships, building brand image and retail trends in Australia.
