Executive Summary
A city centre car-free is place where there is no use of motor vehicles and due to which there
is less traffic. The place is healthy and pollution free that makes people fit. It is seen that there is
rise in awareness about the concept of sustainability. The stakeholders in the process are
identified in the report. Along with that impact of the same and points of recommendations are
part of this report.

INTRODUCTION
A city centre car-free is the one that recognises the importance of public transport. That at
that centres population primarily relies on walking cycling as well as public transport with in
urban area. These areas are called car free zones as there are no motorized vehicles used
(Yusniar, Saputra and Tebec, 2020). Due to rising pollution it has now became important to start
the concept of car free cities. It will help the nation to become pollution free due to less emission
of carbon in the atmosphere. There is requirement of support from various stakeholders in order
to make a district car free. The major role is of government of the place. Government will help to
form policies and guidelines that will assist in making centre car free. It is important to take
initiatives that must be taken by government to make people aware. There is important role of
communities that will help in implementation of the process. The law making authorities of the
place will also cam laws related to the same. Last but not the least, there is important role of
general public that will actually implement the plan. It is important to aware public and takes
their consent in order to make the city car free. In this report there is discussion related to the
meaning of car free city as well as major stakeholders in the process. The benefits of having a car
free city centre are also important part of this report. The discussion also includes the ways of
minimising the challenges. In the end there are points of recommendations given.
MAIN BODY
Analysis
It is seen that having a car free centres in the city will help a lot. It will directly reduce the
pollution in the nation and enhance greenery of the place. It also helps to reduce unnecessary
traffic and save the time. If people will start relying more on public transportation that will
reduce both noise as well as air pollution. The various changes that will take place are positive
and for benefit of the environment. The points of impact are discussed below:
The health impact
There is direct impact of car free city centre on the health of people living over there. It is
seen that it has positive impact on the place. The main advantage is that the place will be
pollution free and that will help to create positive impact on the health of population. The citizen
of the place will get more places to exercise (Selzer, 2021). It will help them to walk easily on
the roads. It is analysed that they will not use motor vehicle to go from one place to another. It is

seen that having good place to walk and do their work will have positive impact on the people of
that place. At the same time they will be able to breathe in pollution free air that is also good for
their health. It is seen that this will reduce diseases and people will be able to live a healthy life.
It is seen that noise pollution will also get reduces. The peace brings in healthy mental condition.
Along with that there is direct connection of physical health with the mental health. If the people
will avoid using motor vehicles and start walking and doing the work with the help of their own
body it will have positive impact. It will help to keep them mentally fit as well. It is necessary to
note that if there will be car free City centre then the mental health of the people will also be
good and they will be able to live happily in the silence and without noise pollution. Along with
that they will prefer using cycles to go at a nearby place (Sleiman, 2021). The cycling is a
physical activity that helps to keep a person fit. It is also seen that they will use public transport
and therein they will able to interact with people. The interaction will also help them to live
happily and build relations that are good for their mental as well as physical health. The health
related conditions will surely improve due to less pollution, and usage of physical activities more
than before.
The Environmental Impacts
It is analysed that environment is getting negative impact due to pollution. There are so
many vehicles that are running on the road and causing pollution and emitting carbon footprints.
It is important to note that there are various harmful gases present in the atmosphere due to these
cars. The health of people as well is environment is getting harmful impact due to emission of
carbon footprints. It is seen that people are being aware about the concept of sustainability but
are not able to use the same (Bonilla and Carriazo, 2018). It is seen that carbon footprints have
negative impact on the health of all the people and due to which various diseases are taking
place. Carbon footprint can be defined as the amount of greenhouse gases produced in the air.
One of the major impacts of carbon emission is global warming. It is seen that the polar ice caps
is melting as well as it raises the level of sea. Not only the life of human beings is in danger but
at the same time the natural habitat of animals is getting disturbed due to the emission of carbon
footprint. The effects are very dangerous so it is right time to take precautions. It is important to
work according to sustainable practices (Gundlach, and et.al., 2018). The impact of noise
pollution will also get reduced. It is seen that there are various issues that will be eliminated as
they occur due to noise pollution. In relation to mental health of the people there will be a

positive impact. It is seen that after the noise pollution will be reduced there will be peace at the
place. Along with this pollution is one of the major reasons of change in climate. Nowadays the
activities of human are causing so many changes in the climate that nothing is fixed and all this
is causing problems in the nation. If there will be car free nation then it will help to reduce all the
negative impact of climate change increasing pollution. It is seen that the construction work also
get disturbed due to these motor vehicles (Friman and Olsson, 2020). There will be a positive
impact on the construction work and it will be completed effectively on time. t is important to
take proper care of environment as all the human beings as well as animals have to live here. If
the pollution will get reduced due to this car free City approach than all the negative impact will
be reduced. Breathing in Fresh air will help people to live healthy. There will be reduction in
climate changes and then it will be a natural process as it used to be. The danger of global
warming will also get eliminated and each and every person will be able to live a healthy life. It
is seen that there are various disadvantages that are caused due to pollution and a stoppage and
reduction in the position will benefit for the human beings living over here as well as for the
environment.
The Social Impacts
It is necessary to note that there is a direct impact of these car free centres in the society. It is
important to note that people are reluctant to change. They are in their comfort zone and able to
go at any place by using their cars (Minja, 2021). The public will not agree to the scheme easily.
There will be certain issues that may arise if the concept it will take place. The response of
public will not be easy to tolerate. It is seen that they do not want to rely on public transportation
as they have their own vehicle. The public will not go through cycle or will use them only legs
and will walk. It is seen that each and every person is now lazy and uses their own vehicle to go
from one place to other. For some it is sign of luxury and others do not want to walk or use
public transport. So it is seen that the response of society also matters. At the same time the
demographics of the area will also be changed (Huboyo and et.al., 2018). The infrastructure is
formulated in such a manner that facilitates motor vehicles. If the economy wants a car free place
then they have to change the demographics. The people might not like the idea and there will be
certain issues that will take place. It is analysed that crime rate can also enhance. As people will
go in public transport then there are more chances of crime. It is seen that they are safe in their
own cars. If they will carry money with themselves and they are alone walking (Hagen and

Tennøy, 2018). There are more chances of crime to take place. So there is requirement of some
new measures and changes in the demographic area so that the impact is positive. Society plays a
major role at the time bringing any change. It is necessary to note that there is need to understand
the requirements of people living in society and making changes accordingly.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is analysed that car free city centre is a place where the use of
motor vehicle is prohibited. It is seen that the place is pollution free and there is use of public
transport. In the report all the major stakeholders involved in the process are also mentioned. It is
important to note that there is need to bring such a change that benefits the nation. It is also
analysed that by reducing pollution there are various benefits to the place. In the report there is
discussion related the impact of having car free city. It is seen that there is less traffic at the
place. The impact on the heath of the people, society and environment is mentioned. It helps to
know about the negative as well as positive consequences so that right actions can be taken. In
the end some points of recommendations are mentioned.
Recommendations
It is seen that there is need of some points of recommendation that will help to bring changes
in an effective manner. They are as follows:
 Health is wealth: It is not just a saying but a true statement. It is seen that that
government of the place must understand the concept. It is necessary to provide best
place to the people where they are able to live effectively. The physically fit people are
asset for the place and help in bringing money in the nation. It is important to have
physically and mentally fit people so that there is peace and prosperity in the nation.
 Society is important: It is seen that people do not easily accept changes. So in this
regard the government has to inform them and make them aware about the importance of
car free City centres. It is necessary to make changes in the infrastructure and
demographics of the place so that people are able to accept the change in an effective
manner. The society is facing certain issues that they do not understand and a living in
their comfort zone. It is right time to take them out of the zone and provide them better
life. The crime that can also increase so that government should also take measures to
reduce crime in the nation and let people live peacefully.

 Better environmental conditions: It is seen that there are various negative and harmful
gases that are emitted in the atmosphere. It is now important to take care of the
environment as the global warming as well as climatic changes is harming the
environment. The government must bring the concept of sustainability so that people are
able to understand and reduce the harm to the nature. The danger towards the animals
must also be reduced by taking suitable actions
