Living in the city life is comfortable as it is offers a large number of facilities like
transportation and communication systems. Residents of city areas can easily get access to
schools, airports, police stations, doctors and several other such facilities. Apart from these
day to day facilities, there is also a very large scope for proper refreshments. People dwelling
in the cities can get a happening light life as well. In the modern metropolitan cities, there are
a large number of facilities like cinema halls, pubs, shopping malls, parks and several other
such places. These facilities are absent in the suburbs. There is not much scope for
refreshments .Apart from this; the opportunities for education and employment are also
higher in the cities than in the suburbs. Schools, colleges and offices are mainly located in the
heart of the country that is the posh busy city areas. However, there are also some
disadvantages as well (Goffman 2015). Due to the large scale urbanization, the city areas are
becoming much populated. It is becoming too crowded and often the buildings that the
people are residing in are small, compact and suffocating. There is also lack of open spaces
for children to play or for the elderly people to go for a walk amidst fresh air. The cities are
also becoming a victim to compartmentalized lifestyles and pollution. It is becoming a
problem to afford such a large number of people in the cities. People living in the cities
mostly own cars and such a huge number of cars running within the city emit a huge amount
of smoke that causes pollution. The property tax is also high in the city regions. The more
expensive area of the city the more is the tax. In order to avoid these many people also prefer
living in the suburbs (Jacobs 2016).
Living in the suburban is good as it provides a relief from the huge din and bustle of
the city. The rate of pollution is also comparatively lower (Ma et al 2015). The property tax is
also comparatively lower. People can lead a noise free peaceful life while enjoying the fresh,
lush green nature. However there still remains the lack of proper schooling and job facilities.
People hence move out from suburbs to the cities for better educational and job facilities.

Transportation, timely medical facilities, banking facilities also remains a major problem
(Thomas et al 2015). Most of the well known hospitals, health clinic and banks are located in
the cities.
There can often be several emergency when people are in need of immediate medical
or financial help. So, in such cases it really becomes a huge problem to travel from the
suburban to the city areas for getting the needed facilities. This is because usually the
suburban areas do not have well developed hospitals or banking facilities and the
transportation is also a major problem there. However in cities, getting the right facility at the
right time is never a problem. There are also a large number of ATMs opened up all across
the cities that enable people to get money as and when they need. The suburban however are
still developing in these fronts and will need some more time to get an all round
development. Hence, people need to analyse both the pros and cons of the city life and
suburban life and then select the locations for their houses.
