The process of selection in the organization is a combined activity where every person associated
with the organization takes active participation and coordinated for selecting the best person for
the vacant position available in the organization. Various tasks and duties were distributed

the team member. Communication skill is required among the leaders so that teams are
interacted well and issues of the employees can be understood effectively.
Commitment: Hard work of the leader encourages the team to increase the efficiency as a

Confidence: Confidence is success of a leader for determining the success of the team. The
leaders must be firm for the decision taken even in worse condition overcoming situation.
2.2: Explain the difference between leadership and management.
In the present era, employees must have a versatile nature as they need to perform various
functions simultaneously for serving the organization as per their delegation. Managers are a
person who is responsible for managing and guiding the employees. Considering the present
scenario, the organization is currently facing issued related to customer satisfaction. Thus, the
manager is responsible for managing the operation of the delivery staff for overcome their
negative reviews (Noe, et al 2017). Managing doesn’t confines only to managing stuff to offer
situational solution, but there are some cases where the manager needs to act as a leader for
guiding the team to increase efficiency.

2.3: Compare leadership styles for at least 3 different situations in City Link[M2][D2].
There are different types of leadership style that can be applied by the manger and leaders of an
organization for organizing, managing, controlling the employees for completion of business
various process for achieving the goals and objectives. Every style of leadership has its own pros
and cons. And it’s upon the leaders to adopt a particular style of leadership considering situations
and circumstances. Three of the common leadership styles are:
Laissez-Fair: In this leadership style, the manager of an organization provides direct guidance
and supervision to the team along with regular feedback. And very little supervisions are offered
due to highly skilled and experienced employee (Antonakis, and Day, 2017). However, not every
employee of the organization is applicable for this leadership style.
Autocratic: The leaders implementing the autocratic style of leadership are allowed to make
effective decisions by themselves with establishing communication regarding the same with
other. The manager’s takes decision and pass them on team members. Leaders have the authority
for imposing their ideas and views on employees.
Participative: This leadership style is also known as a democratic style. Leaders of this system
are responsible for identifying all the input attained from team mate through prior discussion.
However, the main decision is taken by the leader exclusively. Using thus leadership style in an
organization the leaders can effectively boosts morale of the employees as they are considered as
important part of the decision.
Comparison:
Document Page
From the above discussion it can be stated that the participative or democratized leadership style
is best suited in the present organization. This is so because, autocracy may or may not be
praised by all and the leaders are considered special and even if the decision is wrong no one has
the authority to challenge his opinion. In case of lassies-Fair, the organization can apply this
style only if the all the employees are effectively capable and skilled.
2.4:Explain ways to motivate staff to achieve objectives.
Employee motivation in an organisation is considered as a process of motivating the employees
to enhancing their works and efforts for achieving the goals and objective of the organisation.
Motivation is a driving force that is applied for enhancing and influencing the employees for
working effectively (Arnold, et al 2015). For increasing the productivity and profit level the
organisation need to motivate its employees to work effectively. There are various motivational
theories that can be used by an organisation for creating their own motivational framework.
Herzberg two factor theories: According to this theory, there are some factors in the
environment that are responsible for creating sense of dissatisfaction among people. In case of an
organization like City Link, management is suggested to consider various factors for satisfy the
need of the customers and also the factors that may create dissatisfaction in the absences before
creating strategies and organizational policies to make the employees feel motivated.
Maslow’s hierarchy needs theory: The main focus of this theory is on fulfilling employee’s
needs at diverse levels. Level of needs is initiates by the basic need as physiological needs of
employees. Need for safety is the next level thus organization need to offer a safe and friendly
work environment, next level of need included love needs involving employees nature and
organizational culture (Livermore, and Soon, 2015). Further needs include self esteem and self
actualization.
Some of the ways to keep the employees motivated includes:
Rewards: The employees can be motivated through rewards for their high performance.
