INTRODUCTION
Data can be determined as a set of valid informations that comprises of quantitative and
qualitative variables which can be implemented for getting valid and better results at the last of
research. Apart from that, questionnaire is defined as a tool for receiving certain or true kind of
information from various respondents. Present report is based on City Stay hotel that is a small
B&B and established in central London. This assignment will covers about value and importance
of questionnaire along with a suggestion that what kind of data is required for collecting a valid
information about renovation of the Hotel.
TASK
Why a questionnaire is the best method of data collection
Questionnaire – This is most preferred method for collecting valid or true data for the
research programme that provides a good assistance to the researcher so that better conclusion
can be received in a small period of time. In the context with City Stay hotel, Management is
planning for renovating the hotel so with the help of this method, they will able in determining
current market trends and requirements of the customers in an easy manner. Church DLR Train
Station is prime place which is nearby the central London and where the hotel is situated and
most of travellers are visit this place on regular basis with their assorted purposes. It will be
prove a prior opportunity to the management of City Stay Hotel through which they will be able
in increasing their revenue and sales figures (Chow, 2007). Some of the main advantages of
questionnaire so that it can be proved that how this method is most appropriate for gathering
relevant informations. They are discussed as under:
Economical This method is most suitable for collecting valid information. With the
help of it, researcher can easily get reliable informations in a short period of time which
can also beneficial for the researcher to complete research programme in a small period
of time. This method also known as cost saving because in this, cost of conducting the
research programme is very low than the other methods of collecting information like
panel interviews, surveys etc. In this method, researcher only spend money for the
printing of questionnaire and postage charges. It also saves the time of research
programme because in this, researcher have no need to meet personally with the
respondents which can be said as the main advantage of questionnaire. By using this

method, Managers of City Stay Hotel will easily analyse preference and taste of visitors
due to which they will be able in making modifications within their premises.
Wide Coverage- It also encourages the researcher or finder to gather relevant data for the
research topic within a specific boundary. It provides possibility to the researcher to make
contract with a larger number of people through internet, messaging or many other ways
so that a valid result can be received in the end of research. This method is mostly chosen
method by the researcher because it can cover a large number of individuals at a same
time period. By using such method, Management of City Stay Hotel will easy find most
possible elements which are necessary for modifying within the premises of hotel.
Rapidity- This method is also best because it provide quickly replies from respondents
which are chosen by the researcher. With the help of questionnaire, Management of cited
firm will be able in renovating their premises within a limited time period.
Easier Method- Main advantage of this method is that, it is formulated in a small time
and can be analysed with positive or negative aspects. Any kind of technical skill or
knowledge is not required for formulating a questionnaire which is beneficial for the
managers of cited firm in receiving views and opinions of assorted respondents.
Anonymity- It also provides obscurity to respondents through which they provides their
positive or negative views on a specific topic without fear. Through taking support from
this method, managers of cited firm can easily determine positive and negative prospects

fulfilling the needs and wants of their customers in a proper manner. Some of these aspects are
given as under:
Cost price of product or services – In order to making effective pricing of the products
and services, managers of City Stay hotel have to identifying that how much the visitors
can pay for the products and services which are offered by their firm and it also helps
them in determining how much their rivals are charging on the same offerings through
which they will be able in deciding to match with their competitors or defeating them. It
is also essential for the managers to set a good margin on the product so that a better
profitability can be gained by organisation in a small time period. City Stay Hotel is
providing bed and breakfast services in the hospitality industry so they have to comprises
all the elements of cost which they have consumed for manufacturing a specific product.
Through considering such aspect, management will be capable in renovation of their
business which will be helpful in enhancement of their market share.
Needs and wants of visitors – This part is also essential because it encourages the
managers in determination of demands and wants of the customers so that ultimate
experience can be provided to them at the time of their stay period. City Stay Hotel is
located near by central London therefore, the chances of gaining profitability and
attracting a large pool of traveller towards the offerings of hotel services are wide in

nature. So that, This aspect can provide more profitability to the managers of City Stay
hotel for enhancing their sales figures and revenue (Jones, 2011).
Preference of guests – It is also very essential to determine taste and preferences of the
travellers so that their needs can be fulfilled by the organisation accordingly. There are
various visitors like sports person, business person, youngsters etc. who regularly visits in
the premises of hotel therefore their preferences are also assorted during the stay.
Therefore, it is a prime duty of the managers to find out current needs and wants of the
customers and perform their duties accordingly along with an objective of increasing
satisfaction level of customers to certain level.

It is the process of including the respondents in order to answer the questionnaire. There
are 20 respondents which are used in this report to answer the questionnaire.
Q.- What improvements are necessary in the decoration?
Justification:
It is one of the important question to answer for the respondents. The hotel should
require to know that what type of change are required to be done in the hotel premise. The hotel
can do many changes such as changing curtains, bulbs, crafts, sofa sets etc. These changes will
help the hotel to attract a bunch of customers towards the premise of it (Ngai, 2009).
Q.- What changes at the entrance attracts the customers most?
Justification
Entry is one of main attractive place in a hotel premise. A customer when enters the
premise of hotel than it should feel some attractive things which can force it to come again. The
changes which are necessary for the hotel industry to come Arch, valet etc. All these changes
will attract the customers and increase the profitability of hotel also.
Q.- Which theme of venue mostly preferred by visitors ?
Justification
This question states the reason of attraction of visitors, As management have decided to
renovate their organisation then have to decide a specific theme so that customer feels good at
entrance in hotel premises. For this, management can use an appropriate theme from the several

themes like Heritage, organic, Gourmet etc. so as to gaining better satisfaction from them.
Q.-Which facilities increases satisfaction level of visitors ?
Justification
Facilities can be defined as the services which are providing to the customers from the
organisation so as to fulfilling its needs and wants. Reason behind choosing this question is that
identifying the types of services which mostly attracts the customers towards hotel premises.
Most of Respondents gave their views that hotel staff should behave with the visitors in polite
manner, food quality that is provided by the firm should be hygiene in quality, rooms having
AC, Wi-Fi, LED TV etc. If management will provide all these facilities to their guests then the
chances of gaining better sustainability will be higher.
CONCLUSION
It has been summarised from this report that questionnaire plays an important role in the
collection of data. It also encourage the researcher to find out best and relevant information so
that valid conclusion will be received at the last of research programme. It also provide guidance
to the researcher to identify what changes are mostly required in renovation process. In above
report, questionnaire were given to the respondents so that better ideas and suggestions can be
received for making modifications in the premises.
