bitumen was always a better option for the enhancement of the strength of the project however, it
is a costly approach for the country to utilize polymer in the road construction. I had leaded the
team towards this topic focusing the economic condition and transport condition of the country. I
had identified that used tyres could be much beneficial for the roads due to the vulcanization
property and synthetic rubber could be mixed with bitumen to improve its property.

CE 1.2 Project Background
CE 1.2.1 Characteristics of the project
I had identified one of the major concern of our country is the transport and road quality
and it is affecting the nation in various ways. In these years the population has been increasing

Successful deployment of the project needs to be based on an effective and motivated
goals and objectives, and considering these facts I have developed the following objectives for
the project:
To measure the feasibility of the blending of used tyre with the bitumen in manner
to enhance the long life and strength of the roads
To identify the properties of the bitumen after mixing used tyre with the
bituminous and evaluate whether it will be able to fulfil the needs and
requirements or not
To provide an option to dispose waste tyres and thus, make the country pollution
free from waste tyres
CE 1.2.3 My area of work
I was chosen as the leader for the team in manner to execute the project successfully. I
had assigned divided the whole project I different sectors and based on the qualification of my
team members I had assigned different sectors for them according to their speciality. I had kept
myself in the sector of “Hot Mix Asphalt” and I had to execute testing on this sector. I was
assigned to collect related data to this sector and deliver my sector in an effective and efficient
manner. This section includes many sectors such as hot mix war mix, and cold mix asphalt and
the whole team was assigned with different sectors. It was my responsibility to keep everyone
motivated and make them accomplish their objectives according to the requirement of the
project.
Successful deployment of the project needs to be based on an effective and motivated

general methodology for the determination of the property of the bitumen that includes the Base
course and Surface Course. The testing procedure was executed in these two phases which are
the layers of the Hot Mix asphalt.

1.3.4.1 Issues
The feasibility was the most important concern while delivering the project as it will the
most important factor for the successful delivery of the project. Testing on the asphalt was a
dangerous activity for me and my team members and that could damage the team members
physically. Testing equipment were the costly factors that could have affected the budget of the
project and these objects were ‘must’ factor for the proper evaluation of the mixing.

I had identified that feasibility could only be determined through the proper and effective
testing procedure and thus I had executed the Marshall Stability test considering all the aspects
of the admixture and soil mixture. Testing equipment was gathered from the college professor
thus evaluate its feasibility within the existing environment.
