CE 3.2.1 Characteristics of the project
The structural analysis are the designs that are being made for resisting to earthquake

rise buildings and then checking the stiffness of the strength for the core purpose of

building with ground floor. I was a major part of the specified project of this Design of 5
Residential Buildings or G+5 storeys height with a subsequent position of the Civil Engineer
and a responsible team member. I even had to complete this structural designing of the 5
storied residential building by taking the help of few software such as Etabs, Safe and
StaadPro. I also had to make all of these buildings completely earthquake resistant with the

within this project, I had to properly make the structural designing of a 5 storied building

CE 3.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
During this specific project of Designing of the G+5 storied building, I had to
complete the structural design of our project effectively and without any error by using
relevant software. Therefore, to complete this project with better efficiency, I developed the
following objectives:
To propose as well as design the completed structure of G+5 residential building with
ground floor for completing in our provided deadlines and resources.
To check if the project is being made according to our project plan and also whether
each and every requirement of client is being achieved or not.
To check and monitor the quality of concrete by regular site visits that is being used in
project to ensure safety and security and hence making the project earthquake
resistant.
To model as well as analyze the structured with the help of Etabs, StaadPro Safe for
foundation analysis and design for retaining walls and underground tanks.
To create structural designs of sewage treatment tanks.
CE 3.2.3 My area of work
My area of work was as being the respective civil engineer within this specific
project. As, it was not my first significant project within the engineering career, I eventually
had significant ground experiences for these types of civil engineering projects and thus my
subsequent project supervisor had decided to provide me with the core responsibility to
propose a design of the 5 storied building. Hence, I was being chosen as the major civil
engineer as well as a responsible team member in the project work under the proper guidance

mechanics, construction, and even the major formulas of Mathematics and Physics. Hence,
the proper deployment of this specific project was quite easy as per me. Being a responsible
team member, I also took the major responsibility of providing daily updates to my project
leader.

I was majorly responsible for some of the major responsibilities. Although, I was the
core part of this project for limited period of time, within the short span of time, I was
properly appreciated by the project leader as well as all other members of the team. The most
significant responsibilities of this project were to properly model and then analyze the design
structure with the core help of Safe, StaadPro and Etabs, Safe software and also to design the

respective structures as per compliance with the code designing to make my building resistant
to earthquakes, wind forces and even hydraulic pressure with the major help of designing
software and Excel. I even consistently coordinated as well as liaisoned with the major
stakeholders, architects, plumbing consultant, contractors, or even client representative.
Finally, I had created the respective structural designing of the sewage treatment tank.
CE 3.3 Distinctive Activity
CE 3.3.1 Comprehending the Theory of Project
Within the project of Designing of G+5 Residential Buildings, I had to use the various
theoretical concepts for structural building designing. In the starting of the project, I had
noted all the designing parameters for beams, slabs, columns, and even the other structural
elements. I also understood that the advantages of framed structure such as thinner panels,
construction speed as well as higher resistance to the vibrations would be quite important for
the work. The major parts of these framed structures were tied beams, roof slabs and
columns. To perform the analysis or designing of the G+5 residential building, I evaluated
combinations as well as loads. As per the restricted state of the reinforced concrete structures
and pre-stressed concrete structures, I had undertaken some of the loading combinations such
as 1.5 (Dead Load + Live Load) and 1.2 (Dead Load + Live Load +Ex) and many more. I
also had taken the respective live load of 2 KN/m2 according to the analysis or designing for
getting done for my residential building. I also noted that there were absolutely no need to
give Dead Load within the software of Etabs software. I also provided wall load of 12.42
KN/m2 for 9 inches and for the inner walls, it was 6.21 KN/m2. The concrete grade for the
slabs, columns and beams were M20 as well as the size of column were of 230 mm X 450
mm each one and that of the beam size was 230 mm X 300 mm. I also analysed as well as
designed this residential structure by the software of Etabs.

CE 3.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
For completing the work, I had to apply my core skills of civil engineering. I have
used my major knowledge of the structural analysis as well as designing. I even had to apply
my construction engineering understanding or the technology of building for checking the
total work progress. With my subsequent knowledge of software such as Etabs, Safe and
StaadPro, I was capable in completed this software designing or 3D modelling for the
building.
CE 3.3.3 Accomplishment and Task Performed
I had completed my task after applying some of the major steps and methodologies
within the project. Within the software of Etabs, I created several grid dimensions and
building storey dimensions. Next, I had to add few of the newer materials for these structural
elements such as like columns, slabs and beams only by giving specified details. I even drew
the structural elements with the commanding menu and then assigned these joints efficiently.
I also utilized the load combination commands for definition of menu around 1.5 times the
live load and dead load.
CE 3.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
3.3.4.1 Issues
The major technical difficulty, which I have encountered here was during discovery
of a well at the site in the phase of excavation or foundation. I found out it was already
previously casted in the specific areas. This foundation cannot be laid by lack of casting the
pile within the well. The next technical difficulty that I had confronted here was during
assigning respective live loads. I had not assigned live load for the floor finishing as well as
involved the dead loads and hence my project results were wrong.

column distant from well and hence splayed column on ground level.

CE 3.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
My most significant or important plan in the work was to produce an innovative work
by effectively working altogether. I also subdivided the complete works properly and
individual task was eventually and perfectly executed. Moreover, I gave weekly reports to my
project supervisor and monthly presentations to the head of the department of my university.

CE 3.4.1 Project Overview
I made the structural designing of a G+5 storied building by considering few software
like StaadPro, Etabs and Safe. The stress analyses within a slab, the area reinforcements of
column as well as shear forces for each beam were being found with the software of Etabs.
CE 3.4.2 My Contribution to work
Within this project, I was selected as the civil engineer and a team member of the
project. My major contribution was to propose a design for this structure of a G+5 storied
