It identifies three primary factors: the issue of slavery, the differing regional interests and desires for distinct rules and regulations, and the Southern states' insistence on states' rights. The essay highlights how the North's opposition to slavery, coupled with the South's determination to maintain it, created significant tension. Furthermore, the divergent interests and governance preferences between the Northern and Southern states fueled conflict. Finally, the Southern states' demand for states' rights, particularly regarding the right to practice slavery, clashed with the Northern states' stance, ultimately leading to the outbreak of the Civil War. 1CAUSES THAT LED TO CIVIL WAR
The Civil War of America refers to a war that was fought in America between the
years 1861 – 1865 between the northern and the southern states of America. This took place
after Abraham Lincoln became the President of America. The main cause for the start of the
war was the dissension between the northern and the southern states. While the north wanted
to abide by the Constitution, the South wanted the right to practice slavery as it was the right
of the state. Hence, this led to the war.
The purpose of this essay is to find the three main causes that led to the Civil
War of America in the 1800’s.
In the book, America – A History History, the beginning of the Civil war has been
attributed to number of reasons. However, there are three causes that are most important for
the start of the Civil War.
Slavery
One of the most important factors for the beginning of the Civil War is attributed to
slavery. Slavery was indeed a major problem in the past. Although the northern states
of America had abolished slavery after the American Revolution, slavery was a problem in
the southern states as they refused to abolish claiming that the states had the rights to slavery
(Arjona, 2018). The years prior to the Civil War saw conflicts on major issues between the
North and the South, the major cause of which was slavery. Therefore, there was no other
option but to engage in war with the south which led into the Civil War.
Different Regions Wanted Different Sets of Rules and Regulations
This is the second most important cause which led to the beginning of the Civil War.
This was caused by the tensions between the Northern and the Southern states of America.
This is because the Southern states considered themselves to be different from that of the
northern states (Gallagher, 2018). As such they wanted different rules and regulations for

themselves which would be different. Moreover, the constant conflict of the free states and
the states with slavery caused tensions between the two regions caused them to go into war
which ultimately led to the civil; war of America.
Rights of the States
The third major problem that led to the start of the Civil War was the Southern states
demand of the rights of the states. As stated by Cook (2014), the Southern states were
concerned that they were losing their control over the Government and hence they demanded
the rights of the states. They believed the states should have their own rights and the Southern
States had the right to practice slavery. This was opposed by the Northern states which called
them the free states as they did not engage in the practice of slavery. Therefore, this conflict
between them ultimately led to the Civil War of America.
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that there were many other causes of
Civil War, but the most important of them have been discussed above. The Civil War is one
of the most studied and written about episode in the history of the U.S. The end of the Civil
War saw the abolition of slavery and civil rights being granted to the black people. Thus, this
is one of the most talked about episode in the history of America.
