The Greeks
The concept of Greece was not present at the beginning of the 6th century BC, it was
the presence of nine different states among which Athens is now recognized as the centre of
development of civilization. When the narrator states that, “When navigating the present, the
answers often lie in the past”, the narrator points out the generation of the civilization in the
real sense of the word (Maximus, 2020). The Athenians were the first civilization among the
Greece to introduce to the world the concept of democracy and its process. Among the
different equally civilized and educated of the Greece, Athens grew to be the most powerful
in terms of economy and trade and there was a huge presence of aristocratic population who
were empowered in education (PBS.org. 2020). Their form of government and
administration which is depicted in another of their greatest invention- the Greek theatre
shows their collectivism and unity as a society. The Marathon event held every year and
almost in every part of the country originates from the ancient Greek runner who ran from
Marathon to Athens to tell the general that they will have to fight for another three to four
days alone before help from the Spartans will arrive in a war where they were outnumbered
two to one.
The history of the Greek shows us the formation of the world’s first democracy which
was not entirely the result of their education, innovation or even scientific discovery but their
determination of existing as a better human which they achieved through brotherhood. The
most important example being the runners in the army whose importance is depicted through
their arts, who ran to inform the generals from one front to another without stopping and
dying of exhaustion in the end. The cultural world development is still incomprehensible by
any sane mind for their growth ranged from literature to architecture to theatre to sculpture.
