INTRODUCTION
This report evaluates the different approaches in management which is classical
management theory and contemporary management theory(Carroll and Gillen, 2019) . With
that there is comparison in both the approach and what I have learnt in my learning process about
the theories.
TASK
Learning about the different management theories in my lectures in 6 been a very effective
journey. I have learn effectiveness of the theories in the management of the organisation and
what impact they have made in the productivity of the employees. Classical approach of
management is the theory which states that there should be centralized authority in the
organisation in which all the power remain at one level. In classical management theory
workplace is divided into 3 segments which is top level management, middle level management
and supervisors. I have learnt that this strategy focuses on developing standards in order to
increase productivity through high performing reward systems. Learning form my seminars I
realised that this theory mainly works on optimizing the productivity in the workforce and
driving more and more profits. On the other hand I have also learned about contemporary
approach of management which states that managing and practising management on the basis of
new trends generate higher results as in comparison to traditional theory. It involves different
activities in overseeing and managing organisation such as planning, decision making and
monitoring(Razeghinejad and Myers, 2018) . This theory focuses on establishment of the goals
on the basis of interest of stakeholders of the organisation. I have analysed in the 6 weeks that
there is need to divide activities and duties in the organisation in order to generate best outcome
from potential performers.
Both the classical approach of management and contemporary approach of management
is different from each other but the base for contemporary approach is based on classical
management theory. The role of the managers has changed in the classical management theory
as managers implement bureaucratic style of leadership in which they control their workers by
the set of rules and regulations. Whereas contemporary approach of management is slightly
different as in this managers use democratic leadership styles(Yao, Chang and Lai, 2019). Roles

and responsibilities are divided among each and every employees of the organisation. And all the
employees are equally respected and valued in their view points.
In my learning sessions I have learned that as a student I want that my teacher respect my
view point as well. Same goes with leadership management an employee want that they also
contributes in the organisation through their working and enhancing environment of the
organisation. As per my observation contemporary approach of management is much more
effective and impactful in generating productivity in the employees and maintaining alignment in
the activities in the organisation. This theory works with the mindsets of new generation and
implement strategies in accordance to them which generates better results in comparison to
traditional approach. Because traditional approach works on the basis of old methods of handling
management which sometimes proves to be successful but dividing duties and responsibilities in
the organisation helps effectively in achieving objectives.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that in order to manage the activities of the business
there is need to implement different management approaches such as classical management
approach, contemporary management approach and many more. Classical approaches uses
traditional method in controlling things in management whereas contemporary approach uses
current methods in organisation.
