could easily take part in conversations, follow instructions, and ask questions. I am self-
motivated and warm, friendly, and work well with others. I am well-organized, hard-working,
reliable, punctual, flexible, adaptable, and well-presented. I always focus on helping others to be
as independent as possible. I am also a quick learner and interested in learning new things.
I want to become successful and contribute in a positive way as doing my work well is genuinely

1. Previous Cleaning Experience
I have work experience as a cleaner at UTAS Student Accommodation in Hobart in Collings
Property Services during my work placement. At UTAS:
I was responsible for commercial cleaning including vacuuming and washing hard floors
I was also responsible for cleaning and disinfecting toilets, bathrooms, dusting, and general
cleaning
I was aware of the safe handling of chemicals, comply with infection control and observation
of WH&S rules
I always used Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately

My supervisors were satisfied with my work (Govindan, Khodaverdi and Vafadarnikjoo 2016).
2. Awareness and Familiarity with the Currently Used Equipment in Commercial Cleaning
Industry
At UTAS, I have experience in commercial cleaning, including vacuuming and washing hard
floors, and so I could utilize buffer and vacuum cleaners efficiently. I also have experience in
cleaning toilets and bathrooms with mops (Hidayat et al., 2019). I could use clean, dusting
clothes and brushes for dusting and general cleaning purposes.
3. Basic Knowledge of Cleaning Procedures and Solutions
• I am conscious of the need for hygienic work practices in a hospital environment and
understand the need to be careful in case of spreading infections or germs from one place to
another
• I am cautious about utilizing only the appropriate equipment, chemicals and cleaning clothes
for particular areas
• I am aware of the careful and regular need for washing my hands during the work
• I carefully use the equipment and ensure of the safe handling, cleaning and storing of the
equipment
• I regularly check the equipment for any faults and also the vacuum cleaner that its bag is empty
and replaced if needed
• I frequently checked the brushes of the buffer for any damage or blockage (Jóźwiakowski et al.,
2015)
I immediately report it to my line manager, in case of any risks like insufficient power supply
and finish the incident report forms. I know that there will always be some hazards in hospital
and I may have to deal with body fluids like feces and blood and need to remove hazardous
wastes. I have to observe the appropriate hygienic methods and always use the correct PPE
(Müller et al., 2016). I know that there are some other specialized products and processes of
cleaning and I am confident that I will be able to acquire the required skills to carry on cleaning
responsibilities such as vacuuming and washing hard floors, cleaning and disinfecting toilets,
bathrooms, dusting, and general cleaning.

4. Understanding of Safe Manual Handling Techniques
• I am aware of the significance of health and safety, and so I always use PPE. I can also
carefully handle the chemicals while working, storing and mixing them and lock the storeroom
so that nobody could accidentally expose to the chemicals
• I obey the safety signs at the hospital and utilize proper signs while vacuuming and washing
hard floors, cleaning and disinfecting toilets, bathrooms, dusting, and general cleaning
5. Ability to Work Individually or in a Team
I like to work and learn with others as for me; it is essential to collaborate and helps the work co-
workers. I have the ability to collaborate with people from different backgrounds. I am flexible
to work in a team, and will support the team members by working in extra shifts, swapping my
working days or working in various shifts (Welbers et al., 2016).
