Introduction
Designing of User experience also termed as UX can be defined as the approach utilized for
design and development of effective interface or the design to deliver a significant and high-level
experience as well as satisfaction for the users. It has significant role in development of an
application or the design including entire services, features, functionalities, product details and
customer management for an organization or the company. It consists of detailed description of
products, services, their brands, and other important factors on the basis of functionality as well
as usability of developed design (Shneiderman et al., 2016). Here in this report, design and
development of effective layout for the digital platform of the retail store named “Click Retail”
in UK has been discussed in order to enhance the existing layout to provide better experience for
users. Click Retail provides best services and large collection of retail goods including clothing,
electronic devices and toys for kids for thousands of users and consumers across the UK region.
With the development of latest technologies and online applications to provide better facilities
for online users and consumers resulted in development of new User Experience layout for the
retail store so that they can provide best service to online customers and give them new
experience in comparison with other competitors. As a junior engineer, effective layout with
better user experience design has been developed utilizing different principles of interactive UX
design for the enhancement and extension of “Click Retail” services for both online as well as
offline users.

UX design strategy
An approach utilized within the design of UX for the development of new interactive platform
and layout of an application which meets all the aim, objectives and deliverables for the
organization in order provides new experience for the users on the basis of usability and
functionality. It consists of detailed overview and explanation of different factors and key points
required by the user over the interface along with effective management and deployment of
different services of the organization within the design. It also includes detailed flow and guides
for the development of entire application on the basis of user requirements and their satisfaction.
One such strategy utilized commonly by different designers and developers has been listed
below and has been explained in detail with the help of image:

All these key elements of the strategy developed for the designing of UX plays significant role in
the development and control of different processes and layout designed for the application to be
used by users as well as organization to fulfil the requirements of both user and organization
through the application.
Project objective
The main objective of this project is to develop a new design for the “Click Retail” in order to
manage their services and provide best experience for the online users and consumers on the
basis of usability of developed application and functionality of the application. It has been done
to enhance the current status of retail organization and to move their services from offline to
online users. Here, design has been developed for the webpage of retail shop which can be
accessed over multiple devices such as PCs, iPhones, iPads and Android devices so that user can
use newly developed platform anytime and from any device to perform certain task.
User requirement
Different requirements of an user such as searching of product, checking details of available
products, placing orders, checking history and old order details and many others has been
identified for the utilization within the design in order to cover entire functionality of an
application developed for the users to serve various functions and services both for the employee
of an organization as well as their users. Different techniques such as questionnaires, survey,
interview and development of user story have been utilized for the identification of different
requirements for different users within an application in order to maximize the service's
availability in the developed application.
Design methodology for UX
Various techniques and methods have been developed and proposed by experts and researchers
for the designing of attractive layout and platform along with high user experience included
within the layout. One of such approach named as “Agile” method has been commonly utilized
by different developers as well as UX designers to develop better UX design for an organization
in order generate best experience for the consumer while using those applications and system.
In this report, the developed design for the retail outlet has been created on the basis of effective
usability to attract a large number of online users and to provide better option for the digital

marketing and retail business in comparison with existing competitors. It also helps to manage
entire store, their products, services, employee and customers linked with retail business.
Different methods implemented within this project has been explained below in detail.
Identification of significant values: All of the significant factors and values which must be
implemented within the design has been identified and listed along with the planning developed
for the implementation of identified values within the application. It helps in the development of
aim and objectives behind the development of application and their deliverables which must be
fulfilled by the developed application from user as well as employee point of view.

Development of a strategy for UX design: Development of plan and strategies for the entire
design and implementation of services within the design plays significant role in the success of

Analysis of competitors: Effective analysis and evaluation of different applications used by
competitors available in the market along with their services available within the application
provided by different competitors of the existing market in order to develop better design and
services for the user in comparison with other applications.

Discussion with stakeholders: In order to observe the requirements within the design of UX
through stakeholders and other members point of view for the developed of better functionality
and features within the application must be done with the help of meetings and discussions with
stakeholders and other important members of the organization.

Questionnaires: In this approach, different questions related with the project and design of UX,
services, etc. have been created and then those questions have been utilized during interviews
conducted with different members of the team, users, competitors and others to collect
significant information on the basis answers provided by different members over the selected
question for the UX design. It plays important role in better understanding of requirements and
user’s point of view for the application so that those requirements and services can be
implemented within the application to provide great experience for the users and customers of
“Click Retail”.

Design principles
In order to develop an effective design for the application to be used by Click Retail for their
online services and sales of products and goods has been done on the basis of various principles
developed for the designing of UX (Murphy, 2018). Some of those principles have been
explained below:
Implementation of visual graphics.
Control and management of planes and lines utilized within the interface.
Selection of effective colour and size for the buttons, text, images and icons.
Consistent design flow over the entire project.
