INTRODUCTION
Global environment is having an impact of various factors which directly affects the
working environment of an organisation. Basically, a business environment can be defined as a
factor is which both internal as well as external factors are present which are having an effect on
the activity which is being carried out in the organisation. It is very necessary for all the
organisation to understand the environment in which they can operate into because then only
they will be able to conduct their operations in an effective manner (Cohen and Kietzmann,
2014). The organisation which will be referred in this assignment is Clif bar & company. This
company is conducting operations about manufacturing organic food and drinks in several parts
of the world. This report will discuss about the key drivers of globalisation under various aspects
and also the various issues which a company faces while expanding themselves in the global
market will also be discussed. Along with this, several kinds of factors which influence the
organisational structure, culture and functions will also be ascertained and evaluated.
TASK 1
P1 Key factors of cost, market, environment and competitors that drive global trade and
commerce
Globalisation can be characterised as a process under which the integration and
communication between people, company and economy of the country with the rest of world. If
glbaliusation wuill be discussed in context with businesses then it can be detrmined that it helps
in economic expansion of an enterprise. In this, an environment is created in whuch investment
is brought in from several segments so that growth and development can be achieved by them.
The companies who are carrying out their operations in various parts of countries is known as
Multinational companies (Crane and Matten, 2016). The idea of globalisation is basically
supported by digital technology and transformation and then later on connects the economies of
various countries under social and economic grounds. It has also been ascertained that here are
various factors which compels an organisation to expand at an international level. It is very
important for the companies to take all the factors very seriously then only they will be able to
carry out their operations in an effective manner and desired results can be achieved. A brief
description of key drivers of globalisation are as follows:
1
Document Page
Cost: It can be defined as that factor in which the amount which will be paid by the organisation
so as to expand themselves at an international level. It is necessary for every company to invest
their time and resources in understanding the idea of doing expansion in an effective manner so
that they can come to know about the machineries and resources that will be required by them so
as to expand themselves at a global level (Doh, McGuire and Ozaki, 2015). The cost that will be
incurred by the business are being separated into two forms such as direct cost and indirect cost.
Direct costs relates to the factors like insurance, rent, inventories etc. as they have direct relation
with the amount of units produced. On another hand, the indirect cost comprises of expenses
which is not having any direct relation with the no. of quantities produced and the factors which
are included in this are Personnel, administration and conveyance costs. But the most crucial
reason to enter into global market is to increase the efficiency of the firms in terms cost.
Through this company is able to build competitive advantage in the market and helps in
presenting the products which is affordable to the customers as well.
Market: This can also be considered as one of the most effective factor as it is that place in
which the company will target their respective customers towards their products and services.
Globalisation is occurring in the companies because the market in which they are currently
operating has become mature and now it is no more fruitful for them. Like, if a company is doing
their operations in UK for a longer period of time and have reached the maturity level so now the
situation has come when the company will think of shifting to some other place so that they gain
the profitability once again in new markets. So, if the company is thinking of expanding at global
level then it is very profitable for them if they are in this kind of situation then right strategies is
required to be implemented (Epifanova and et. al., 2015).
Environment: This is also ethanol factor which is taking into account two very important
factors which are Technological and political drivers. Both these factors are having a string
connection with globalisation. It is also noted that commercialisation and liberalisation of
economies have made very easy for all the companies to conduct their work operations into
another country along with their goods and services. If the organisation is having the support of
digital technologies then they can launch themselves in the another country in an effect manner.
Also, the government is providing them support for conducting their operations in an effective
manner. Due to digitalisation a company can be virtually present at various locations at one time
and these kinds of approaches are also called as e-businesses and e-commerce.

Competition: The competition can also be treated as one of the major factor about the
globalisation. There is significant rise in the inter-firm competition which affects the business
into launching their companies at an international level. FDI's is also helping the company for
launching themselves at the international level and in interdependencies between various nations
as well (Ferraro and Briody, 2017).
TASK 2
P2 Complexities of strategic challenges which face by BMW in international environment
Apart from the sizes, there are various factors which are required to be encountered by
the companies while doing their operations at an international level. Clif bar & company is also

effective manner are as follows:

faced an organisation in another country. The small and medium companies required to
understand the rules and regulations so that goods and services can be sold to customers at an
effective level. It is also considered that each person is having their own set of laws which is
related to tax or some kind of ethics to carry out their work activities in a proper manner.
Volatile nature of raw material – This is also a very important factor which is being faced by the
companies who are working at small as well as medium level. The case is same if the company is
operating in UK. It is effective because there is no means than to follow with the ever changing
cost of the raw material and to create strategies as well so that this changing nature of market can
be defined by the company in a suitable manner. The aftershocks which emerge in terms of
prices of raw material is to be countered strictly with the help of financial tools (Huhtala and et.
al., 2014).
Culture and language: This is very important for all the companies to understand the culture
and language of the country in which they are operating into. It is also determined that there are
marginal no of small and medium sized companies who are handling various kinds of issues in
the correctly manner. For instance: Clif bars & company is already carrying out in its operations
in the market of Asia and Africa. Therefore, requires a competent team of individuals who can

strong impact on the dealings with the global environment issues. The companies are also
required to incorporate sustainability in its operations (Kasemsap, 2015). Clif bar & company is
conscious of all its efforts relating to procuring of raw material and environmental footprint.

is complex as well so it is required to be used in an effective manner so that desired results can
be gained from it. There should not be lack of communication as otherwise it will become a
major road block for the company and they will not be able to expand themselves at the
