BODY
1. WAYS IN WHICH CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECTS A BUSINESS
Climate change - Climate is the weather of a particular place. Change in climate reflects the
changes in temperature in comparison to the climate of that season last year. Weather takes a
few hours to change but to change climate it takes hundreds of years to change. As everyone
knows that global warming is the most dangerous and most effective change at the global level.
Global warming means an increase in the average temperature of the earth from its past years,
this causes melting of glaciers, extinction of many species of penguins, and other aquatic
animals and terrestrial animals, rise in the water level of the world , threat to the countries
surrounding waters and many more(Dai, 2011). The scientist has gathered information from the
starting of the mid-20th century about various weather phenomena like precipitation, storm,
temperature etc.
Three ways in which environmental change affects business
Environment change affects business in a variety of ways and mostly in negative ways as the
water level is rising there will be less fresh water reserves, the threat of floods, cyclones,
landslides etc. are effects of climate change.
Control on carbon emission- The manufacturing companies is responsible for high carbon
emission and global warming so the governments of all over the world have taken serious steps
and controls for the amount of carbon that can be emitted in the air.so every company whether
manufacturing unit or not have to limit its carbon emission, control its electricity usage with a
contribution to Corporate social responsibility in monetary terms is compulsory which costs a
lot of money to be invested each year. The refineries, power plants are the huge generators of
greenhouse gases so they have to find other ways to control their pollution status (Okereke et
al., 2012).
Changing demand for goods- The rise in temperature has led to a rise in demand for the
products and services that induce cool weather like AC. Since there is no control over climate,
rainfall without season and humidity in winters scientist cannot predict the climate correctly

and there always uncertainty in the climate which may cause changes in demand of people in
the related area (Okereke et al., 2012).
Elimination of non-renewable resources- The non-renewable resource like petrol, energy etc.
is to vanish soon so the alternatives have to be decided and tested soon. The world economy is
dependent on petrol and the Gulf countries have their 90% of earning through exporting petrol
to several countries and which will be vanished soon so to save the economies of the world the
invention of electrical vehicles and cars will create new business opportunities and will open
new market for solar panels, electric cars and many more (Okereke et al., 2012).
Measures were taken by the UK government to meet the greenhouse gas targets
UK government in the year 2008 have set the target of 2050 to reduce its emission of
greenhouse gases to 80%.
The Carbon budgets- These 5 budgets will set a target for carbon emission between the years
starting from 2008 to 2032 with legislation advice from committees. There is a continuous fall in
the emission in the UK's carbon emission in the air since the climate change activists have been
passed by the UK government in the year 2008. As compared to the carbon emission level in
the 1990s there is a drop of 42% in the carbon emission in the year 2016.
Clean growth strategy of UK- the department of business, energy and industrial strategy (BEIS)
aimed at –
Increasing business and industry efficiency in coming years
Shifting the logistics and low carbon transportation
Increasing the value of natural resources and using less of non-renewable resources
Improving homes and their electricity usage hence contributing to a reduction in carbon
emission other than from the industry sector and using LPG consumption other than oil
and coal and increase in natural or biogas for home consumption.
Leading to public sector and if the private sector is also leading than the control over the
carbon emission and industry laws for corporate social responsibilities are to be
followed strictly without skipping (Howes et al., 2013).

2. DESCRIBING IDEAL CAREER AND EXPLAINING THE INTERNAL AND
EXTERNAL FACTORS AFFECTING THE CHOSEN CAREER PATH
Effects of Digital marketing on chosen career-
Digital marketing means promoting the product or services through online medium and it may
be through social media or any other online platform. Digital marketing has now become a
necessity for every business as most of the people are available online and they spend so much
time browsing the internet that has no geographical boundaries. Digital marketing is making the
online presence of the business and maintaining it to attract the targeted audience. In this case,
the targeted audience is elderly people above the age of 60 years. Though the senior citizens in
the UK are wealthy and active they have this age gap with the other age group people and so
for that effective marketing is required. Digital marketing has made it very easier and cheaper
to communicate with those people who need home care whether they are in any part of the UK
they can have access to these facilities and this makes easier to promote through online
medium. The negative effect of digital marketing is that the people of age group above 75
mostly don’t know how to access phones and tablets so they cannot be offered through digital
marketing to home care (Leeflang et al., 2014).
Two main roles of the HR department
1. To recruit and select the most effective staff for caring the elderly people. The HR
department has the responsibility to recruit people who have abilities like patience,
knowledge or experience of handling elderly people, basic knowledge of medicines that
are used in treating this age group. Also, the HR department has to recruit the staff for
the finance department, marketing department and the legal department, to maintain
contacts with hospital and drug stores (Singh et al., 2012).
2. To train the staff is the other role of the HR department as the elderly people require
special attention and special care so the staff has to provide with special training, like for
people having different issues of Alzheimer, diabetes etc. which is common among this
age group so how to handle those people is to be trained professionally. The human
department has to maintain the staff turnover to the minimum as high staff turnover

leads to high training cost and also the time to mix up with elderly people is extended
(Singh et al., 2012).
MAIN ROLE OF LEGAL DEPARTMENT IN OPERATIONS OF CHOSEN BUSINESS
1. The UK government has initiated a program for elderly people and their care named as
THE AGE which is helping in making UK safe place for elderly people. The government
has been contributing through various ways and specified some basic rules for home
care through their UK association for home care, which is to be followed mandatorily, is
the job of legal department (Livingston et al., 2010).
2. The people who come to home care are mostly retired or the people who don't have
money if they have savings what will happen to their property cash etc. after their death
so the role of legal department is to manage their finances and also to manage the
donations from various trusts, companies and from general public (Livingston et al.,
2010).
PROGRESSION PROSPECTS IN CAREER PATH/SALARY SCALE
Every organisation whether it is NGO or company it has to pay to its employees there are very
few people who work for free but mostly the staff remains permanent when they are being
paid a significant amount for the same.
Operations department -The salary division will be according to working hour’s criteria, the staff
that takes care for the elderly people have to be paid according to the number hours they have
worked, plus if they are working at night so they get extra pay for the night shift. There are
some people who want to volunteer for elderly people so they have to be paid according to
their hours spent as they are not permanent.
Other departments- The non-operational departments like HR department, legal department,
marketing and finance department employees are to be paid not according to their working
hours but day wise payment as they have to perform 9 to 5 job schedule like other companies
and their work is not related to schedules of elderly people.
