Introduction
The paper is about “How Scientist Got Climate Change So Wrong” by Eugene Linden in
November 8th 2019. The paper got is power due to its serious approach towards the most serious
concern all across the world that is climate change. The presence of images, graph and statistics
make the paper more informative and attractive to its readers (Peskett et al., 2020). The opinions
represented by the writer is in favour of the current situation of the environment. Thus, it was
easier for me to relate to the paper.
Thesis statement
The drastic impact of climate change and the consequences on human lives.
Statistics of the paper
After going through the paper I have understood that the drastic change in the climatic condition
of the world is clearer and better represented with the statistics. As per the scientists, the
temperature in the Arctic has risen to 80s and it resulted in melting a huge amount of icebergs in
Greenland and the statistics state that it is around 40 billion tons of ice (Opinion, 20202). The
rise in the sea level will be observed within the coming twenty-five years due to the heat waves.
The consecutive hurricanes in New York one in 2012 and the next one in 2017 have caused a
huge loss in vegetation and livestock and coasted nearly $125 billion. The warming was limited
to 2.7˚ F in 2018. The sea level has increased drastically from 1990 till 2017 towards the worst.
Humour about the paper
I think the paper does not reflect any humour as the topic is very serious in its own context and
the scientists have represented all the finding and information in a very serious tone. The rise in
the temperature and the consequences faced due to it has effected a huge range of population as
described in the paper.

Impact of graphics
I think the graphics present in the paper are more attractive to the cause it wanted to show. It will
definitely create more awareness of its audience. I think the graphics hold a strong position in
any article and reflects the overall meaning of the paper better through the images and graphs.
This paper shows the flood rooms, flooded tunnels which did not occur in the last 108 years, the
image showing the melting of ice in the iceberg of Greenland due to the heat waves have shown
the adverse experience faced by the climate (Shultz et al., 2020). The acceleration graph showing
the rise in sea level clears the climate change and lastly the cracking picture of Amery ice in
Antarctica.
Impact on people
I think the biggest impact of the change in climate is on the environment and the organisms
living inside it. The effects that the people have experienced due to the changing climatic
condition are the rise in the temperature, frequent floods and hurricanes. The increased frequency
of the natural disaster has destroyed several livelihood and properties of the people. The increase
in greenhouse gases has caused global warming. I think this has facilitated the growth of new
harmful germs and diseases (Zhang et al., 2020). The number of incurable diseases are also seen
during the last decade. The unavailability of drinking water due to the melting of icebergs are
causing deaths. The improper climate is restricting the growth of vegetation properly, etc.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that the piece is very much informative. I have gone through it line by line,
and the statistics provide by the writer are appropriate to move forward and learn more about the
topic in depth. The rising temperature of the earth can be reduced with little contribution from
our side with some avoidance of substances that contribute to the increasing temperature.
