INTRODUCTION
Leadership defined as an art of motivating a group of people that works to achieve a
common goal. It is an ability of individual and group of individuals that helps to influence the
member of an organisation (The importance of clinical leadership in the hospital setting, 2014).
Therefore, leadership in the clinical practice's environment aids to both optimal patient outcome
and successive generation of motivated and enthusiastic clinicians. Nurses leadership behaviour
positively influence enterprise outcomes and also appreciate inter-relationship between
developing practices of nurses, optimising patient outcomes and improve quality of care.
Furthermore, report will cover the activities as significance of leadership, critical analysis of
leadership styles so that better practices can be done.
Significance of leadership-
Leadership is crucial function of management that aids to maximise and to achieve
enterprise goals. It is process of influencing other to get success within firm. If in the entity there
is no leadership then organisation cannot perform their work in efficient mode. Therefore,
effective leadership is build on things as mission, vision, strategy and inclusive of certain skills.
Hence, effective leader must have characteristics as self confidence, strong communication,
managerial skills, creative and innovative thinking. Health care system is developed in terms to
continue struggle with escalating demand for the services (Rawat & et.al., 2019). Therefore, the
process of leadership is very effective as it aids to conduct the working based on setting goals,
organizing, co-ordination, direction and motivation so that things can be dine effectively. With
help of arranging proper action and to lead it in better manner the organised working structure
can be framed.
Great leaders knowns how to inspire people and motivated them to work towards the
vision. Hence, it can be stated that clinical leadership skills undertaking the roles as setting,
inspiring, promoting values and vision with help of using clinical experience and skills to ensure

accountable for performance of professional care duties of patient, adherence to regulatory

leadership skills able to make effective decision. Hence, better leadership program aids to have
sound and stable growth. In order to conduct the better leadership practices in clinic, the staff to
the enterprise perform their work in more productivity and efficient mode. The better approaches
aids to creates self confidence in employees and sustain their enthusiasm that aids to
achievement of organisational goals by the employees. In addition to it, significance of effective
clinical leadership ensures the high quality care system that consistently provides the sage and
efficient care.
Critical analysis of leadership styles in clinical practices-
In this modern scenario, effective hospital care is confronted by challenges of workforce,
changing consumer expectation, enhancing demand for access to care and mandates to have
improvement in patient centred care. Therefore, significance of effective leadership works as to
ensures high quality health care system that aids to provide safe and efficient care. Hence, article
explores different leadership styles and theories in clinical practice's as-
Transformational leadership- It can be utilized transformational leadership theory. As per the
view of Rawat & et.al., (2019) transformational leadership is relation between the leader and
follower they motivate each other to higher levels resulting in value system. According to the
view stated nurse leaders works as to consult with patients, colleagues and administrators to
identify the quality of care offered by the enterprise. Hence, Sousa & Rocha, (2019 it can be
stated that talented transformational leaders works as to employ effective communication and
interpersonal relation techniques to encourage and inspire team to gradually building up
reputation for trustworthiness on which employees can grow to depend. To have better clinical
practices the transformation leadership styles aids to consider mainly four aspects as ideal
impact, strong motivation, intellectual stimulation and personal consideration.
In order to improvise the clinical practice's, leader to the hospital centre must adopt this
transformational leadership style as it aids to possess great self confidence, firmly believe in
vision and aids supports enhance the goals. As per the transformational style of leadership,
manager of the nurse should schedule an appropriate time and design private room for one on
one tale with nurse to reassure about the duties and responsibility assigned to them. According to

Participative leadership style- This is style that termed out as democratic leadership in
which team members can participate in the process of decision making. It is style that works as
to evaluate and finding practical ways to have improvement in quality of care they are delivering
to the other person. As per the view Jiang & Luo, (2019) stated that nurses in clinical practices
perform their role as to collect the ideas and opinion of staff to improve the quality of care they
give to leaders. Under clinical practices, the leader must advised to nurses and staff to develop
professional and casual partnership with one another. It is one of the crucial aspect of
professional life and if the team is lead by the good leader then it will be easy to full fill the
organisational goals and objectives successfully. Hence, participative management style aids to
have participation in decision making, encourages the involvement of stakeholder at the levels. It
aids to participate in own clinical expertise to clinical processes. With aids to adopting this kind
of leadership style, clinical practices generates a better workplace environment. This style works
as to coordinate successful policies and programs. By improving casual and professional
partnership with one another aids to bring smooth performance within enterprise. With help of
adoption of this leadership approach staff members under clinical practices can able to build
positive working environment and it results in conflicts. Under this, Rawat & et.al., (2019)
stated that leader works as to relay over decision and also works as to allowing staff members to
control over assigned duties.
Bureaucratic leadership- In clinical practices, rules are designed with purpose to ensure
patient health and safety foremost. Therefore, Sousa & Rocha, (2019) stated that clinical nurses
adopts this leadership style are responsible for upholding protocol and must be ensure about
subordinate works in terms to adhere the rules. It is the system that provides training for

stated that leadership style that mainly based on six features as specialization and division of
labour, hierarchical authority structure, rules and regulation, technical competence guidelines
and to have better personal indifference. Thus, clinical practices must be based on normative
rules and adhering to the lines of authority. It is stated that rules and regulations are mainly
designed to ensure about the patients health and safety at foremost level. Therefore, high quality
practices can be framed by hiring the staff that will works as to provide more safety to patients.
This is leadership style that will aids to bring continuous improvement in health care setting with
help of aiding better facilities of the delivery, quality efficiency and supports to provide better
patient care and services.
