Transcript between supervisee and Client (Tom)
Supervisee: Hi. Tom, I am happy that you showed again. I am hoping that the last session was
helpful in minimizing the communication gap between you and your spouse Tina. How is
it going now. Did you start sparing some time for family? Well, I am wondering why
Tina did not came along with you.
Tom: Hi. I wish I could manage the time but as you see the work is never ending. I am sorry but
she denied coming along with me saying that I am ill and I need treatment not her. As
you see how rude she talks some times.
Supervisee: No problem we shall continue the session and talk little more about your last week
experience and development. So, tell me how do feel now, did you followed my advice?
Tom: I tried to talk to them and spend more time with the family. I even planned to take the
family to the restaurant on the weekend. But she denied going with me saying she has no
such mood and wants to spend the evening at home. The whole evening went talking silly
things.
Supervisee: So you did not enjoyed the evening when only you two were there. How going to
restaurant would have helped you in giving more time to your family? Well, if you don’t
mind can I know what you both talked about?
Tom: Oh! very silly talks like which flower she loves and which actress she likes to watch. Her
most favorite place on earth. Why I am always late. I have told her that it’s my job that’s
why I am always stuck at work and there is nothing else.
Supervisee: I understand that there are some time in marriage where differences in thought,
habit and behavior comes and most of the time it irritates the other partner. Here the
responsibility to live a satisfied and happy life is of both the partners together.
Tom: I strongly agree, but I am not the only culprit. Somewhere she is also making this married
life complicated. I have work whole day, if I don’t complete it on time it will be damage
my reputation. So whatever time I have I spend it with the family. Whatever I am doing

is only for the happiness of my family. They should be having enough money to buy
whatever they want to.
Supervisee: I know that work is very important. But you have to confront the truth that you are
trying to avoid the family.
Tom: I am not avoiding my family may be, I am too much busy in office projects to be
completed.
Supervisee: The consequence of ignoring the need to communicate and spending time will be
faced by your family. They may start losing interest in you and feel insecure. The only
way to solve the problem is by conversing with everyone. Talk to everyone in your
family about how was their day was? Where they want to go on the vacation? This will
cherished by everyone in the family.
Tom: Why I am the culprit every time. I tried my best to give everyone a best life, But now you
are also blaming me for the differences. You are talking just like my father.
