INTRODUCTION
Clinical workplace practices refer to providing healthy and safe environment to patients. In
clinical workplace good facilities is provided to patients so that they can recover soon (Strand,
2017). The report examines, reflection about clinical workplace practices to evaluate and develop
strategies for future development. It includes, clinical practices around acute care which is being
observed in workplace, thoughts and observations, how this reflect person centred care. Further,
Gibbs model is discussed and team practices. Some strategies to improve patient/client/service
user care.
MAIN BODY
Reflection on clinical workplace practices
Clinical workplace practices to both physical and mental illness means to provide good
facilities and safe environment to patients and proper care must be given to them. It is the
responsibility of staff members to take care of patients and give them equal treatment so that they
can get well soon. In Hospitals patients should get good environment and proper training is
provided to staff members for how they have to treat patients.
Gibbs model of reflection
Gibbs reflection model includes six stages i.e., description, feeling, evaluation, analysis,
conclusion and action plan.
Description- This is the first stage of Gibbs reflective model which to describe situation. In
clinical workplace I observe that staff members were treating all patients with respect and taking
care of every patient. They are reporting details of every patient to doctor on time so that they
can recover soon. I also notice that safe and healthy environment is provided to patients and all
the necessary facility is given to them (Sekarwinahyu and et.al., 2019). Good clinical practices is
provided to patient whose surgery has been done. It is our responsibility to give proper care to
that patient. Safe and healthy environment was provided to unwell patient because surgery is
being done and patient need proper care. Family members of patients were also given respect
and staff members tell them about their medicine structure properly. As proper treatment and
care is provided to patients, they also feel good and it creates positive image.
Feeling- My experience was good as I notice that proper rules and regulations are followed at
clinical workplace. According to my opinion, other people who were present there feeling good
because environment of workplace was safe, healthy and clean. Staff members are interacting

with patients and other people politely. For acute care, emergency rooms were available and
proper care is given to patients. Overall my experience was good and proper care is given to
patients. A separate room was provided to patient because surgery is dangerous and patient need
proper rest to get well soon. I was also taking care of patient and try to interact with the patient
because after surgery, patient become weak and need positive environment to get well soon. I
was interacting with patient politely and try to solve problem so that he can recover soon.
Evaluation- in clinical workplace it is not easy to work because there are different type of people
and it is difficult to handle them. when I was working at the clinical workplace I notice that
special training is provided to staff members so that there are less chances of mistake. All the
things are explained in systematic way like, how to treat patients, interact with their family
members, how to explain medical prescription to family members of patients. It is difficult to
handle people whose surgery is being done because they are already depressed and need good
environment. The aim of our team members was to treat surgery patient politely and satisfy their
needs. In our hospital proper care is given to surgery patients and checkup is done in every 2
hours. Patient need proper rest to recover soon and positive environment to get well soon. It is
essential to treat patients with respect so that they can recover soon. In workplace one thing
which is not well was shift of staff members were not properly mentioned (Tawanwongsri and
Phenwan, 2019). Due to this confusion was created among members. This was not good, it is the
responsibility of manager to divide roles and responsibilities properly so that work can be done
on time and there will be no confusion.
Analysis- after evaluation, analysis is done and I came to know that all things are properly
managed at the clinical workplace because training is given to all members and evaluation of
performance of employees is done. It helps in identifying mistakes of staff and better plans can
be made. From the analysis I notice that things did not go well because there was a little
confusion related to shift but after that manager divide roles and responsibilities in systematic
way to avoid confusion and proper care can be given to all patients (Tanaka, Okamoto and
Koide, 2018). I notice that members are not giving proper care to some patients and not listening
to their problem. After analysing situation, I notice that surgery patients need more care as
compare to other patients. It is our responsibility to take care of patients whose surgery is done
and give good treatment to improve their health. After surgery, patient is not able to think

properly and need rest. In our hospital, work is divided among members so that patients can get
proper treatment.
Conclusion- This experience was good for me and I have learn many things like, it is important
to make proper plans and divide work among members to avoid confusion or misunderstanding.
All the activities were properly managed and every staff member is given training for how they
have to behave with patients, interact with their family members and explain medical
prescription properly. According to my opinion, leaders can be made who guide staff and give
correct directions so that proper care can be given to patients. It is important to satisfy needs of
patients and their family members. According to me all should work as a team and focus on
providing good care to patients. Staff members treat patients with respect and dignity (He,
Parkinson and Doyle,2018). Surgery patients need separate room and proper care to get well
soon. it is the responsibility of staff members to provide proper treatment to patient whose
surgery is being done and daily check up should be done to ensure that their health is improving.
Action plan- according to Gibbs model, last stage is to take action and make plans so that proper
care can be provided to staff members. As I have notice that staff members fight due to some
confusion. In my opinion, this situation arise because of some misunderstanding. Staff should not
fight instead of that they should interact with each other politely and solve issue. According to
me training session for developing some skills must be organised by manager. Employees should
have some skills and focus on providing proper care to patients. Managers should distribute work
properly so that employees can provide proper care to patients who is unwell. For surgery
patients, separate department is made and duty of staff is done properly to avoid confusion or
misunderstanding. Our team want to provide good care to patients so that they can recover soon.
Clinical practice around acute care
Acute care means a level in which patient is in severe condition or severe episode of
illness. Some examples of acute care are, trauma, emergency department, intensive care, etc. In
this situation it is important to provide good treatment to patient so that they can recover. It is the
responsibility of staff members to take care of patients and provide all the necessary things. In
hospital example of acute care is ICU. Patients who are having severe disease given special
treatment. There are some clinical practice around acute care is active treatment, emergency
room services (Pitts, 2021). In the hospital, I have noticed that patients are who are having severe
disease, emergency rooms are available for them and urgent treatment is given. I have observed

that experience staff members are recruited for taking care of people who are having severe
disease like trauma. All the necessary things are provided to them and every time one or two
nurse is available with them. In the clinical workplace I have observe that special treatment and
proper care is provided to patients who are suffering from severe disease. All the staff members
were trained and they are handling all the people properly. Surgery patients need special
treatment and care to recover. Staff members should interact with their family members politely
and explain prescription properly so that they can get well soon. Members should interact with
patients politely and try to solve problems they are facing. It is essential to focus on satisfying
needs of client because it helps in creating positive image and customer give good feedback.
Evaluation and development of strategies
It is important to evaluate performance of staff members and make better plans so that
patients can get proper care. In clinical workplace, it is essential to treat patients with respect and
dignity. It has been noticed from reflection that staff members are not treating patients properly
or not solving their queries. This should be improved by monitoring performance of members. It
is the responsibility of manager to evaluate work done by every member. Feedback should be
taken from patients regarding behaviour of members towards them (Menz and Barnbeck, 2017).
This help in solving this issue and training should be given to all staff members in which they
should learn how to treat patients, solve their queries and answer their questions in positive way.
Every member should have necessary skills which is required and focus on providing proper care
to patients.
Managers are responsible for making plans and strategies so that patients can get good
treatment and they can recover soon. It is essential to treat patients with respect and provide them
healthy environment so that they can get well soon. Some strategies that can be applied at
clinical workplace are, show respect to patients, express gratitude, interact with them politely,
enable access to care to patients. There must be proper communication between staff members
and divide responsibilities properly. To improve patient service involve family members of
patients and friends. Staff members should give details of patients to doctor so that proper
treatment can be provided to patient. It is the responsibility of managers and team members to
provide proper care to patients so that they can get well soon. the aim of hospital is to provide
good treatment to patients whose surgery is done and doctors are checking their health regularly.

care of patients so that they can get well soon. staff members interact with patients and identify
their problems so that better care can be provided. Surgery patient need rest and their daily check
up is done to check that their health is improving. It is essential to provide good care and
treatment to surgery patient and communicate with them properly. This helps patients in sharing
their problem with staff related to environment or they face problem with any staff member.
Emotional support must be provided to patient at clinical workplace. Engage patients in care
plan and feedback must be taken so that performance of staff can be improved and mistakes done
this time will not be repeated in future (Khosravizadeh and et.al., 2020). In my opinion, manager
should divide work in team and make leaders so that there are less chance of mistake and work
can be completed on time. for acute care experience members should be recruited who have
skills and give proper care to patients. Working in a team is beneficial for growth of workplace
because work can be completed on time and reduces chance of mistake or misunderstanding.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it can be concluded that, clinical workplace practices mean
providing proper care to patient and take care of patients. Training is given to staff members for
treating patients with respect. Gibbs reflective model which includes six stages such as,
description, feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan has been discussed. Further,
clinical practice around acute care has been described. Evaluation and development of strategies
to improve patient care has been described.
