INTRODUCTION
The data communication and Computer network is related with the communication of data
between two or more computers and a computer network allows computer to exchange data. In
today world where people are more dependent on the technology for their work so both data
communication and computer network are very important at for organization (Radic, 2015).
The 5-star company is using a network of 2011 and the network operation system that is used by
the company is windows server 2008.The company need to update its network and need to
develop a modern network for the company that will ensure that these company has video-
conferencing between main office and their branch. With this new network, all the business goals
such as pricing company's information, improving communication etc of the company will be
fulfilled.
This report will present a suitable network architecture for the company in order to achieve
desired goals of business. The logical and physical network diagrams for the proposed network
will be explained and also the cost of implementing the network will also be discussed in this
report.
Cloud-based network architecture for the organization
In order to meet out the business goals, the company should use cloud-based technology.
This technology will make available the resources, application, services to users on demand by
the use of internet from the providers of cloud computing. The company will be able to provided
“internet based computing” in which all the services will be delivered to computers of the
organization and devices through internet. The applications of cloud-based can be accessed from
anywhere (Liu and Niu,2014)
The only requirement of this network is a device and internet connection. No efforts are
required in order to manage and maintain it as it is on the cloud.

The easy access to data will save time and money of the company. The latest versions of the
applications that are required to run a business are made available to the customers with the help
of SaaS.
The size of their own data centres can be reduced with the help of cloud computing The
IT cost related with the number of staff, software cost etc can be reduced without having effect
on capability of the organization. In comparison with traditional methods the cost of cloud
computing is flexible. The services that are provided by cloud providers are extremely reliable.
As long as workers have an Internet connection the connection is always on. The application can
be get from anywhere.
Circuits
For the networks of enterprise, the layer 3 switches are important especially in design
with many subnets and virtual LANs. The layer 3 switches can inspect the incoming packets and
based on sources and destination address indicates the dynamic routing decisions that can be
madewith the help of switch. They are less likely to experience latency in the network as the
packet don't have to make extra steps through a router. On a large local area network the layer 3
switch will improve the network routing performance. The benefits of using layer 3 switch in the
company are many as it will simplify security manage and will improve fault isolation (Fazil and
Puliafito., 2015 )
Hardware
The hardware components that are needed to build a cloud are same as that are needed to
develop traditional architecture. The only difference is in the way they act and communicate. A
fibre optics cable will be used in the company for cabling. It makes use of glass and threads to
send data (Dinh, Niyato and Wang, 2013.). The advantages of using this cable at company is
numerous as it provides much greater bandwidth in comparison with metal cables. This indicated
that more data can be carried by them. They are also less susceptible and also much thinner and
lighter in weight. The data is transferred digitally by fibre optics. In a building, the networking
2

between computers is made easier and faster with the size of fibre optic cable (Koren and
Bukspan, Mellanox, 2016).
Less power is offered by optical fibre and will allows transmission for longer distances.
To electromagnetic inferences the fibre optic cables are immune. In electrically noisy
environment it can also be run as the electrical noise will not affect the fibre. It is difficult to tap
optical fibres. The missions cannot be intercepted as they do not radiate electromagnetic energy.
For carrying the data to the sender this fibre is the most secure medium that is available.
Software SaaS
It stands for “Software as a Service”. It provides a way of delivering application and
services over Internet. From a web browser customer can access applications of SaaS. There is
no need to buy hardware and there is no need to buy, install and update. The providers of SaaS
takes care of everything and the customer is provided with the latest version of the application.
With the help of web browsers or other mobile device the customers are provided with the pre-
built applications such as HRM, spreadsheets etc. The customer need not to worry about
underlying in infrastructure or its implementation as these applications are customizable (Webb
and Murdoch, 2014).
Paas
It stands for “Platform as a Service”. The Java EE, oracle etc are the basis for
deployment. In this the applications are designed specifically. On any other platform, the
application will not run. The platform specific extensions are included such as Amazon’s Simple
Db that cannot be ported to other platform.
Iaas
It stands for “Infrastructure as a Service”. It enables the clients to deploy virtual
machines as components that are managed through a console. The network and physical resource
are looked by the cloud provider and the infrastructure deployed is managed by user (Wu and
Schaefer, 2015.). If the demand for capacity increases then the resources of computing provided
3

by the provider increases. The utility computing is considered by IaaS as it tears the resources
much like utilities. In order to support dynamic environment, the cloud must be built with
components such as Iaas, PaaS, and SaaS.
Topology for cloud-based technology
With the help of managed private cloud, the company can own and control the entire
hardware which is hosted by external site which is managed by another party. The infrastructure
will be kept up-to-date and the redundancy will be protected by using this topology. In an easy
and scalable way, the organization can manage, exchange and social information of the
enterprise on the cloud. This will also reduce the cost, time and the requirement of staff. This
way the security and control befits can be achieved by making use of it (Zeiler and Fergus,
2014).
Backbone
As backbone a wide-area network will be used by the company . As WAN technology
eliminates the need to purchase a e-mail or servers of file for each office. Only one office data
centre need to be set up .The server management is simplifies with setting up a WAN. Setting up
WAN allows to send sensitive without sending the data over internet. So security can be
maintained with the help of WAN. The leased lines are often used by corporate WANs that
forms the backbones of their networks. The unlimited data transfer are provided with corporate
WAN.
Network topology for cloud computing
A WAN (wide-area network) will be used in the company as it will allow the communication in
wide geographical regions. At different locations, the users on WAN are connected with central
server. One of the very good example of WAN is banking system. All the computers on the
network are connected to central database on the server (Winzer, 2014).

Estimation cost for implementation
In order to bring a change in the network of the company. The company need to invests
on the implementation of the circuits, hardware and software. Both direct cost and indirect cost
are linked with the implementation of this network. The direct cost is related with its hardware,
software and switches and cables etc. In the indirect cost comes the recruitment of staff
members, training etc.
Circuits - The implementation cost of Layer 3 switch will be around $ 42. Layer 3 switches are
much more cost-effective and provide better performance. The company need to invest around $
40-42 in the implementation of this switch, in comparison with the router, this switch is more
cost effective and also performance is also good. It will provide security to the company
information (Zissis, Xidias and Lekkas,2015).
Hardware – The implementation cost of fibre optics can be around $ 15. While implementing the
fibre optics the company should make sure that sufficient power is there for fibre optics as it will
save the additional power capabilities.
Software - The implementation cost of SaaS can be around 25% to 40% of its on-premise
implementation. The cost mainly depends on the degree to which data conversions and system
interfaced are needed (Fazio and Puliafito, 2015.). In a SaaS implementation the effort for data
conversion can be more complicated and can take more point of time. The software cost
advantages are not provided by SaaS not from the perspective of multiyear. For on-premise
software the subscription fees are high than the annual maintenance fees (Zou and Guan,2016 ).

Conclusion
Thus, summing up the above report it can be concluded that all the issue that are faced by
the company due to all the old network used in the company can be overcome by making use of
cloud-based approach as it will increase the performance and efficiency of company. The
company will able to do video-conferencing from two offices to the main branch. The layer 3
switch implementation can be cost -effective and can improve the performance by inspecting
incoming packets. The fibre optics are designed mainly from long distances so with
implementation of this it will be easy for the company to communicate with other branches of
