The impact of cloud on mobile application

Introduction
The essay aims at highlighting and evaluating “the impact of cloud computing on mobile
application”. The essay is the evaluation of two journals related to the topic. Journal first – “A
Review on Cloud Computing in Mobile Applications” written by Dr I. Lakshmi and second
journal taken is “Mobile Cloud Computing: Implications and Challenges” written by M.
Rajendra Prasad, Jayadev Gyani, P.R.K.Murti. The essay is written to critically evaluate these
two papers and find the important issues, methodology, challenges discussed in the paper
regarding the topic impact of cloud computing on the mobile application. The essay will discuss
the following part of the journal; first, it will be explaining the purpose of the two papers, what
are the research questions? What is the methodology is described in the paper? To find what are
the flaws in the method? Does the data collection and the analysis done by the authors is
adequate. Does the journal support any evidence regarding the conclusion it draws?
Cloud computing
Before evaluating the papers, it is very important to define what actually the topic of Cloud
computing and its impact on mobile application means. Cloud computing is the external server
or software which is used for the storage, processing time, networking or back-end application
with the help of the Internet. Cloud Computing has many advantages and it has impacted various
segments of the profession. Cloud computing has also its wings in the mobile application due to
its short lifecycle period. It has allowed EC2 services are handling the mobile applications, it has
provided the facility of payment gateways, web analytics, monitoring and controlling of
applications and many more. Following let’s evaluate two papers that focus on the impact of
cloud computing on the mobile application and find what the two perspectives regarding the
issue and analysis are the research question, different methodology and providing a reflection of
two papers.
Evaluation of Paper one:
 Purpose of paper – Title of the paper “A Review on Cloud Computing in Mobile
Applications” written by Dr I. Lakshmi. The paper aims at highlighting the importance
of security issues which will be established after using web and cloud services in the

application of the mobile. The paper talks about the way cell phones and applications
are associated with the cloud technology and the main target were given to the
difficulties which will be faced during its execution and the solution of that problem.
 Research Question - the questions which were put forward by the authors are the way
in which cloud computing is actualized? what is the impact or influence it caused? The
further author asks what the challenges are faced for the successful implication of the
technology. The author categorizes two more important questions about how the cloud
will be constructed for the phones and cells and second how this mobile phones and
application are going to handle the cloud for information and handling. The author tries
to answer the real difficulties which are faced during its execution and what could be its
possible and feasible arrangement can be reached to.
 Methodology – Author here describes the cloud platform, cloud services and
challenges in the technology. Cloud platforms are the location or base which provides
the customer to run their application in an environment providing the predefined
conditions without actually buying it. Some of the examples of cloud platforms given
by authors are Microsoft Azure, Hyrax, Amazon EC2, Google App Engine. The author
next gives a definition of the cloud services: the main administrator which provide the
customer with the required services they are demanding or paying for. It is more like a
programming system providing system or web (Lakshmi, 2016) with software services.
Cloud services include payment, mapping, navigation, identity and integration. The
third author aims at the main target of a paper describing the challenges and solution
faced in mobile cloud computing.
Challenges based on the devices – mobile devices as the limited source of energy,
loading application helps in saving the battery but it not possible to load every activity
like displaying of element will need devices as their platforms to run in such cases Wi-
Fi and GPRS should be used which consumes less energy and can be connected directly
to the cloud. Challenges based on mobile application- Interoperability, Flexibility of the
cloud application as a different application run on different environment and cloud
convergence helps in providing long battery life. Challenges based on the network:
issues with wireless network, Network access like WLAN, GPRS, LAN, WLAN,
Network Latency, improper connection and access to the Internet, bandwidth.

Challenges based on security: security of information – SSL and other technology as
provided security system in the cloud applications, Confidentiality and the privacy
concern issue in the cloud application many plans including FIPP is implemented to
ensure the protection of sensitive data which is uploaded on the cloud, Malicious attack
which occurs generally are DoS, men in the middle , authentication assaults. Network
Monitoring, enforcement and incident response with compliance are also challenges
faced during the privacy setting of the application.
 Analysis of conclusion – the author concluded that cloud computing is going to benefit
the coming future of mobile application as it is the combination of both mobile and
cloud technology. The author provides the statistic that around ten thousand mobile-
oriented applications are going to get executed on the cloud computing technology. The
author in the paper discusses and gives an overview of the definition of cloud
computing, cloud platform, cloud application with the various challenges faced during
its implementation in the mobile application and the most outreached solutions to such
problems. The author marks that cloud computing will provide more customized and
beneficial services to the users of the mobile application.
 Reflection on the paper – The paper very well highlights the challenges and issues
which are faced when cloud computing is integrated with a mobile application.
Research questions are clearly defined during the start of the paper and it discusses the
challenges and gives solution to such problems but the answer to many research
questions like how the mobile application is going to handle the application is not
specified in the paper. Paper lacks in defining the benefits mobile application will have
after implanting devices with cloud computing. Paper does not provide with any
statistical data related to the analysis of the impact of cloud computing in mobile
applications and further no evidence regarding the research finding or data has been
provided in the paper. The plus point paper hold is it compares the EC2 and GAE
platforms features on basis of administration, portability, service it provides, language
supported, Interfaces, Technology used for deployment, which provide extra
knowledge in this field.

 Purpose of paper- Title of the paper “Mobile Cloud Computing: Implications and
Challenges” written by Rajendra Prasad, Jayadev Gyani, P.R.K.Murti. The paper aims
at highlighting the importance of one of the promising technologies with the
development of mobile applications and discussing issues like scalability, availability,
performance, storage, bandwidth, security, privacy. The paper focuses on describing the
integrational benefit of both the technology for developing countries.
 Research Question – The author tries to find and explain How the integration of cloud
technology with mobile applications can be optimized to further extended to
implement, utilize opportunities in the development and advancement of the countries?
The author answers the question in the paper and highlights that cloud computing and
mobile application will help in the connectivity of remote area and regions which are
hard to reach and hence author tries to attempt and address such issues in his paper.
Another question he put forward is How cloud computing help in connecting present
with the future in the era of technology and mobile?
 Methodology - the author first categories the six main types of computing which are
Mainframe, Personal Computer, Network, Internet, Grid and finally arriving at Cloud
computing. Cloud computing has layered architecture which is SaaS – in this
framework cloud provider provides the services to the user in accordance with the
requirement of the user but the control is totally is in the hands of the provider. Zoho,
Microsoft, Google are an example of SaaS. PaaS – it is the architecture in which
platform is provided as for use by the (Prasad, Gyani, and Murti, 2012) user consisting
of operating servers, storage system and servers. Linux, XAMP, Apache are the
platforms which are provided. IaaS- a virtual environment is delivered to the give
access to use the computer architecture, in this user have full control of storage,
applications, storage and OS. GoGrid and Amazon are the IaaS provider. MaaS - It is
the type of system which is used for outsourcing security for the businesses which
conduct the business over the Internet. It is actually deployed to manage all the
activities performed by three layers.
Next author gives a description of the type of deployment model present in the cloud
computing architecture. The author explains three models which are: Public cloud – It
is the services which are provided by an external party with the help of the Internet.

Private cloud is the deployment model which happen on the private network, it is used
for maintaining the security. Hybrid cloud is the combination of both public and private
cloud. The challenges which are faced during the cloud computing are – privacy and
Security, Reliability, performance, bandwidth costs, access and control power.
According to author mobile computing is the new technology in which part of the
application is linked to the cloud storage. The key requirements suggested by the
authors are APIs, deployment services of application in multiple networks and seamless
handling, the cloud computing gas the following advantages are m-learning, m-health
care, Banking, commerce, Game etc. Using cloud computing has several benefits in the
field of application which are providing B2B solution to the customer, network
operators and help in developing web and application services.
 Analysis of conclusion- the author concluded by marking the statement that the arrival
of cloud computing in the zone of mobile application has brought many changes in the
field of network. The author focuses more on the network capability which will be
enhanced by extending the dimensions of cloud in the mobile application. The author
gives benefits of mobile cloud as it will increase the network capability and more
network would be accessible through it. It will create a new era for the developers to
entire into the competitive market with the advancement of technology. Hence the
author concluded by saying cloud computing will remove all the barriers faced by the
mobile application.
 Reflection on the paper - the paper gives a proper explanation of the architecture
which is used in cloud computing. The paper thoroughly describes the definition of
mobile cloud computing, its features, challenges faced in it and also describing the
benefits area of a mobile application with cloud computing. Paper also provides with
the statistical data of outreach of cloud computing in the mobile application. It also
gives the research questions which tells about the use of cloud technology for
developing countries, but paper lacks in explaining the details. Evidence of the data is
not mentioned in the paper. But paper enhances the knowledge and give in-depth detail
of mobile application with the use of one of the best technologies presents to date.

Conclusion
Hence it has seen that both the paper highlights and give benefits of emerging and integrating
cloud computing technology with the mobile application. Cloud computing has allowed EC2
services which are now are handling the mobile applications, it has provided the facility of
payment gateways, web analytics, monitoring and controlling of applications and many more.
The essay is written with the purpose to evaluate two papers and its finding. Both the paper
discusses the impact of cloud computing in the mobile application. At last reflection on the paper
helps to find the knowledge got. The paper describes the purpose of the paper, what are the
research question presented by the author, what are the methodology used by the authors.
