AI Summary
This presentation outline explores the adoption of cloud computing for Regional Gardens, a company with an outdated data center. It defines cloud computing, emphasizing its function of storing data remotely and discusses the advantages, such as cost-effectiveness, secure data storage, and mobile access. The presentation then details different cloud architectures including Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Ultimately, the presentation recommends the PaaS approach for Regional Gardens, given its existing infrastructure. References include sources discussing cloud computing concepts, architectures, and service models. This presentation provides a clear overview of cloud computing and its practical application for the company.

Introduction
Regional Gardens has a small data center in its main site.
Company’s servers and data storage is located in Regional
Gardens.
The Company has an existing architecture that has not been
updated for some time and a full upgrade will cost more than
its worth. Therefore, Regional Gardens is planning to move to
a cloud based infrastructure for storage and access of their
data. (Jadeja & Modi, 2012)

What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing can be defined as a
process of storing data over internet.
In cloud computing, the data is stored
in the remote servers hosted over
internet and not in local server
(Garrison, Kim & Wakefield, 2012.

Continued..
Cloud computing relies on shared computing resources
and does not stores information in local servers of personal
devices. (Sefraoui et al., 2012)
The Cloud services are therefore delivered over internet and
can be obtained in subscription basis.

Reasons for choosing
Cloud/Advantages
The advantages of cloud are as
follows (Jadeja, & Modi, 2012)-
It is a cost effective solution
Provides option for secure data
storage
Offers mobile access to the data
stored over cloud server

Different Cloud Architectures
The three different cloud architecture
that Regional gardens can consider
include-
PaaS or Platform as a service
IaaS or Infrastructure as a service
SaaS or Software as a service

Platform as a Service
Platform as a service is an application
platform that provides a platform for
deploying cloud. (Malfara, 2013)
In the platform provided by PaaS,
customers are allowed to develop
manage and run the application
without any complexity.
IT helps in integrating all the essential
operations of the organization.
Document Page
Infrastructure as a Service
Infrastructure as a service is a cloud
computing service that provides
virtualized computing resources over
the internet (Moreno-Vozmediano,
Montero & Llorente, I2012).
IaaS is a service model that delivers a
computing infrastructure to the client
for accessing the cloud services.
Document Page
Software as a Service
It is a distributed model of cloud
computing where a third party
provider host a common application
and makes them available to general
public.
It is a process of delivering cloud
applications over internet as a
service.

Chosen Approach
Analyzing the different advantages and disadvantages of all
the approaches, it is recommended for Regional Gardens to
deploy cloud in PaaS approach.
This approach is recommended as the organization already
posses an infrastructure that can be moved onto cloud.
Document Page
Conclusion
The concept of cloud computing is analyzed in this
presentation in order to evaluate which cloud approach will
be appropriate Regional Gardens.
Considering the fact that the organization already posses a
configured infrastructure, platform as a service is
recommended so that Regional Gardens can make use of
their existing architecture.
