Slide Note: Regional Gardens Ltd. is a gardening organization that sells plants. They have a
data centre in Bathurst and the data is stored there. They are using Windows Server 2008
and Linux Servers as their infrastructure.
This particular infrastructure has become completely obsolete and thus they have decided
to change to cloud architecture (Rittinghouse, & Ransome, 2016).
There are various cloud architectures available in market and they have to select one of
them.

There are three distinct features of cloud computing. They are as follows:

ii) The scalability of the services are present.
iii) The user of the cloud significantly pays for the services they have utilized.
The main concepts of cloud computing are as follows:
i) IaaS: It is the form of cloud computing, which solely provides virtual infrastructure to
its users (Dinh et al., 2013).
ii) PaaS: It is the second service model of cloud computing that provides online
platform to its users.
iii) SaaS: It is the third service model of cloud computing, which gives online software to
the users.

There are several significant advantages of IaaS. They are as follows:
i) Flexibility: IaaS is extremely flexible and thus can be used by all organizations for
virtualized infrastructure.
ii) Scalability: IaaS is scalable enough to deal with the overall changes in infrastructure
(Kavis, 2014).
iii) Cost Savings: It helps to reduce the infrastructure cost by providing virtualized
infrastructure.
iv) Disaster Recovery: If the data is lost in any point, there is a scope of recovering that
data by DR strategy.

This is creating major problem in their business as they are not being able to get any type of
benefits from that particular infrastructure.
The main problem is that the data is getting lost and the moment it is dealing with bulk
amount of data, there is a high chance that data would be lost and cannot be recovered
(Kavis, 2014).
IaaS is the best answer to this problem. This would help them to deal with bulk amount of
data effectively and efficiently. And their data would not be lost at all.
DR strategy is one of the main strategies of IaaS.

Ad Hoc Approach with Advantages and Disadvantages
Ad hoc approach is the first and the foremost approach for providing office
automation system in Regional Gardens Ltd. The main characteristic of ad hoc approach is
that it does not follow any type of procedures for completing the testing (Dinh et al., 2013).
The advantages of this approach are as follows:
i) Easy Application: It is extremely easy to apply and can be easily executed without
complexities.
ii) Fast: This type of approach is extremely fast and does not incur much time.
iii) No Requirement of Documentation: The third advantage of this approach is that
it does not require any type of documentation for applying this approach (Fernando, Loke &
Rahayu, 2013).
The disadvantages of Ad hoc approach are as follows:
i) Lack of Processes: The most important disadvantage of this approach is that it
does not follow any procedure and this often becomes a major problem.
ii) Dependent of Tester: This approach is completely dependent on the tester and
this is another disadvantage of this approach.

Structured Approach with Advantages and Disadvantages
The second approach is the structured approach. This approach eventually follows a
structured procedure for the execution of the processes (Rittinghouse & Ransome, 2016).
The office automation could be easily done with the structured approach.
The advantages of this approach are as follows:
i) User Friendly: This particular approach is extremely easy and user friendly.
ii) Follows Process: This approach follows processes and thus could be easily
executed.
The disadvantages of this approach are as follows:
i) Erroneous Data : This approach often provides erroneous data.
ii) Slow: The approach is slower and inefficient in comparison to others.
Recommendation about Approach
The recommended approach for Regional Gardens is Ad hoc approach. It is
recommended as this is extremely beneficial (Hashizume et al., 2013). Although, it does not
follow any structure, it is extremely fast and efficient in comparison to others. Moreover, it
can be easily implemented. Thus, Regional Gardens should implement this approach for
office automation.

Regional Gardens has decided to move the Web infrastructure to public cloud. Two
