 A service that is sold on demand.
 The user pays only for the services they
use which leads to cost-effective
computing.
 Can be public or private. An example of
public cloud is AWS.

Classification of cloud services
 SaaS
• Third party hosts the service and bills the client upon usage
• SaaS applications can be accessed from anywhere and are usually
provided with a multi-tenant environment
• Example is Office 365
 PaaS
• Provider responsible for handling hardware & software on its
infrastructure
• Users can focus on creating multiple applications rather than
maintaining the infrastructure services
 IaaS
• Virtualized computing resources
• Easier, faster and cost efficient
• Generally a range of services offered with IaaS
