Cloud computing is a process, which is used to enable the companies, adopting its
services, the ability to consume a compute resource like the virtual machine (VM), application or
storage. The main benefits of cloud computing is to inhibit the development of an infrastructure
in the vicinity.

This report discusses about the various approaches of migrating the resources of the
database to the cloud services. The methods discussed here is the IaaS and the PaaS. The report
further discusses about the advantages and disadvantages of using these approaches.
Discussion:
The major components in a cloud-computing network include the architecture required
for cloud computing processes (Xu, 2012). These processes are the back-end (storage and server
related components), front-end (mobile device, all types of clients), cloud-based platform and the
presence of a network (intranet and internet) which combines to form the architecture of the
cloud-computing platform.
IaaS approach:
The Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) incorporates the use of SQL server installation and
hosting to be run on Azure. This process of SQL Server installed in the Virtual Machines (VMs)
is used to shift the resources of the existing databases or application of the SQL. The efficiency
and compatibility in operation is the main benefits that are provided by the use of IaaS service
namely Azure (Mauch, Kunze & Hillenbrand, 2013). In addition, the transactions between
various databases are also done with ease by the use of Azure. This approach is usually
implemented by the initiation of a virtual machine of the web server and the database server. The
traditional method of approach to IaaS is often followed for the integration of database resources.
PaaS approach:
The use of SQL Server database, which uses the cloud network, is used in this approach.
Platform as a Service (PaaS) is also known as the Database as a service (DbaaS) which is
customized to work with the various Software as a Service (SaaS) applications. This approach

gets efficiency and compatibility when integration of the database resources is done. The use of
Database as a service (DbaaS) in the cloud of the Azure platform is recognized in this process
(Fazio et al., 2014). The databases that are provided by the clients are usually maintained and
hosted by the presence of certain hardware and software. These services are provided by the third
party providers (Microsoft in this case). The direct use of the inbuilt features is incorporated in
this approach.

The need of approach:
Webb’s Store needs to adopt the IaaS service for directing their requirements. The use of

analyzed before applying for the approach.
Conclusion:
Thus, it is concluded from the report that the use of IaaS services is the best requirements
for analyzing and directing the intended requirements towards cloud based applications.
