for CNC is taken to mean Computerized Numerical Control, meaning that this Computerized
Numerical Control lathe is commanded by computer signal commands. Therefore, its movement
is automated. On the other hand, a conventional-lathe machine is manual. The movement is not
automated but is done by a person (an operator) who manually-operates it (Faludi, Bayley
Bhogal & Iribarne, 2015). It requires special tools to enable it draw arcs or work. This type of
lathe machine calls for a number of technicians to operate it as compared to Computerized
Numerical Control (CNC) machine.
As from the results of the experiment it is evident that CNC lathe machine has higher
dimensional accuracy that the conventional machine as demonstration by the deviations of the

reading from the nominal reading. These values if calculated as a percentage deviation would
show almost insignificant deviations for the lathe machine. Quality assessment as well
demonstrates that CNC lathe machines have relatively minimal surface resistance which may be
attributed to the advancement in the technology of machining adopted. The conventional
machines on the other hand exhibit low quality assessment results as far as surface roughness is
concerned.

CNC lathe machines are exhibit better performance characteristics that the conventional
