1REFLECTION ON COURSE
For the proper pursuit of the career for any individual, coaching and mentoring is a
necessary part since it provides a scope for development. Though, we have been mentored by our
family at early childhood and by our teachers in our educational pursuit, sometimes the necessity
of the professional coaching and mentoring is required to perform well in the field that requires
vocational and practical expertise. As a student, I had been studious and mapped my studies in
theory-based learning. This had made me competent in the literature of my field, however, i
lacked in the communication skills and thus was lagging behind in the practical applications of
my knowledge. At that point of time, I thought to undertake the coaching sessions that will
mentor me in applying the theories to practical fields. I thought this course to be useful because
of the plethora of study materials and approach that it offered and I was ensured that studying in
a group will help me to wither away with my poor communication skill.
Through the primary aim of making me competent in my field at primary level, the
course, at a deeper level has also helped me in generating a confidence that has in turn generated
the leadership skills. Presently I can deliver technical supports to my peers in need and do not
tend to be distressed if any new initiatives are taken in the class. Thus, the course has effectively
helped me in developing the communication skill and has been able to lead a team confidently. I
learnt that for the successful implementation of any learning, theoretical knowledge is not
enough, rather, having practical competencies makes a learner more confident. In the workplace
I find myself more confident in making my team understand any task or leading my team to
initiate a new project that is helpful in exploring the various business opportunities.
Being mentored helped me in learning more about leadership and development skills that
helps me in motivating my co workers and assisting them in case they are not aware of the new
implementations. This has developed a more integrated and open workforce.
