MANAGING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS PROJECT
Introduction
Globalisation is the method by which the culture and economy of different nations unites
together and build connection via capital flow and global trade business. Globalisation
signifies an inescapable phenomenon that is creating the world smaller by developing
services, exchanging products, information, culture and knowledge among several countries.
It has provided better opportunities for businesses as they can now move in a new country
and develop their business over there. However, if the company fails in understanding the
concept and functioning of globalisation, then companies might get affected.
This project will be discussing about globalisation for Coca-Cola Company. It is a US based
company that provides beverage for customers. Since its establishment in 1982, the company
has been successful in expanding their products to a large section of people. Presently, Coca-
Cola has become a well-reputed company which serves its products and services in maximum
number of countries. This project will be dealing about the research project management plan
and how it will be utilized to carry out and meet good performances.

Activity 1: Research Project Management Plan
Task 1: Project objectives, aims and timeframes
P1: Project objectives and aims
Project objectives:
The objective of the research is to identify the mode by which globalization of Coca-
Cola Company has to integrate elements of international culture within their business
structure (Waddell, 2017).
To determine the process and analyse the role of international culture in developing
their product and services.
The objective is to evaluate and obtain useful recommendations for supporting their
business position in the global market.
Project Aim: The aim of the research project is to understand the culture of global market
because of its importance in the success of their business. The research project tried to
examine the standpoints of different business and individuals internationally so that the
company can attain a beneficial understanding of the market condition, demand and people.
Research questions:
What is the concept of globalisation?
Why globalisation is essential for business growth?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of globalisation?
What is the main role of international culture in business expansion?
How the aspects of global culture get included within business activities?
What are the other significant recommendations for lining up national business into
international market?
P2: Project management plan with scope, cost, time, communication, quality,
risks
Project Scope: The scope of the project is a part of the project planning which will document
and determine the particular project targets, costs, tasks, deliverables, and its deadline
(Rasche et al. 2017). The documentation of this project’s scope will elucidate the boundaries,
establish the responsibilities of each individual and also will set processes on how finished

task will be further approved and verified. Throughout the project, the documentation will
allow the project team members of Coca-Cola to stay focused on globalisation. The project
scope report also helps the allocated team with instructions for taking decisions on the right
time and effectively (Ostermann, Willenberg and Schebb, 2015).
Project Budget: It is important for the Coca-Cola Company to make a project budget analysis
so that they can understand on which section they need to spend money for globalizing
business (Luetge, Armbrüster and Müller, 2016). The below chart will help to show the
expenses required:
Sl.
No
Reason Estimated Budget
1 Literature 550 GBP
2 Surveys, Observations and Interviews 4250 GBP
3 Choosing Data Collection Methods 4000 GBP
4 Data Analysis and Interpretation 1500 GBP
Total Budget 10290 GBP
Need of communication and quality: Communication is a very crucial part of the project as
it will help the company to overrule and pervade in global business. Communication is very
extensive and constant and so no one could ever flee from its influence. Quality of goods and
services is also important to attract large number of customers (Wunderlich, 2016). Without
better communication and quality, people would feel segregated and unable to present and
accept ideas.
Risk associated with the project: Coca-Cola Company can recognise and measure the risk
factors which might affect their business, by doing risk analysis. This part will help them to
identify maximum number of threats and risks in expanding their business in global market.

M1: Comprehensive project plan, milestone and project schedule to monitor the
objectives and aims
Project plan will help Coca-Cola Company to make sure that proper anticipation are placed
around the product and service delivery, time and the duration. The project managers must be
capable of negotiating attainable and reasonable targets among stakeholders, management
and the team. The team can ensure that there is rigidity in designing projects correctly to fit
into wider context of their client’s strategic structures abroad. Good project plan allows the
company to directly align with the planned targets of the global business.
Milestones are used in project management as a tool to mark certain points which might be
budget checks, input, external review or starting and ending period of the project (McMurray
et al. 2016). By setting milestones for globalisation, the company can identify the things that
need to be finished, the things they already did in the project, the time duration taken and
how much time needed further. Project schedule will set up timelines, availability and
delivery of resources, whether inventory, personal or capital. If Coca-Cola Company does not
have proper project schedule than it becomes very difficult for them to make the project
successful. This is mainly used to assess the resources required and for how much time.

Project plan, schedule and milestone are equally significant in monitoring the aims and
objectives of the research project.
D1: Critical evaluation of project management process (PMP)
Project management process is very important method which joins every project processes
and activities together. The four key project management processes are discussed below:
Design: This is the first phase of the research project where the structure, features,
deliverables and condition for success are planned out. Project manager makes design to
obtain ideas, processes and materials for attaining their business targets in foreign countries.
Develop: After design, the manger develops business ideas and structures to expand their
business internationally. The Coca-Cola Company must develop a work breakdown
arrangement and start the most rational activities sequence in the project management process
(Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017).
Analyze: The third phase is to analyse whether the data sources are acquired in authentic way
or not. Further, the execution plan of the project is examined to accomplish the objectives
effectively.
Evaluate: This is the last phase of the PMP, where the project manager hand over the
executed system and shut out the project. If the deliveries of the project are balanced with the
approval criteria described by the client then the project will be suitably received and waged
by the customer (Daniels et al. 2016).

Activity 2: Project execution along with Log Book
Task 2: Small-scale research and data collection
P4: Application of qualitative and quantitative research methods to meet
research goal
Qualitative research method: This method focuses on acquiring data via conversational and
open-ended communication. This research not just put emphasise on what people think,
rather they also tries to know for what reasons they think that way. These methods are
planned and designed in a way that helps in disclosing the perception and behaviour of their
targeted audiences. The most regularly used qualitative research methods and their
application are discussed below:
Using Case study: The researcher can use such secondary sources, which has
developed over many years to gather qualitative data (Kleibert, 2015). It is utilized for
describing an entity or an organisation as a whole.

Record maintaining: This process uses the present consistent papers and similar
information as a data source. People can visit library and collect books and different
other materials to gather applicable data which can be used in the research project.
Ethnographic research method: This research method studies clients in their
naturally happening environment. It needs the researcher to accept the new culture,
motivations, challenges and also the settings that happen.
Quantitative research method: This method collects data from primary sources where
effective numerical and statistical arrangements can be exhibited (Schwalbe, 2015). The
application of quantitative research methods to meet research target is given below:
Method of observation: This is another method of research which utilizes slanted
methodologies to collect data or information. The quantitative examination is mainly
used to compare quality differences.
Interview: This process is an individual interview which is planned with only one
person at a time. The researcher can gather accurate data regarding people believes
and their motivational factors.
Focus group: This is the frequently utilized qualitative research methods which
normally includes very less respondents from their target market. Their main aim is to
know the answers of how, what and why questions.
