Introduction
Information systems is a very wide topic and can be used for offering provisions of information
to the manager when making their decisions and thus the concept of management information
system. Goals of such information systems is providing information which is relevant to the
management and that will help it in its functions. Decision making is one of the most significant
tasks that is performed by managers and which must be done at different levels. They have
information will help the managers in taking decisions that are the most important objective for
any MIS. There are other information which are relevant for the managers which help them in
planning, controlling, organizing and direction of activities which may be secondary objective of
any Management Information System (Thakur, 2017).
Information system will not normally be dynamic enough when it comes to handling the changes
in the requirements from the user. Many are times management may require the diverse types for
the concerned information which is always considered in planning process. The plan of the
information system has been structured in a way that it will be able to handle the new
requirements information in future for the managers. Business strategies of the company are
required when planning the type of information system to install. For a business to be successful
in choosing the best IS, then it is the mandate of the managers to know the objectives which are
strategic to the organization even in situations where the business will need to expand in future.
For this reason, the business has been obligated in understanding the information system roles by
clearly defining the planning process themselves.
Strategy of the Information system
The information is required when supporting the strategies of the business and developing the
relevant information systems by providing such information such as how they are planned and
fitted within each other (Muhsinzoda, 2015). Business strategy alignment with the information
system results is a continuous process that will be used by the information system in supporting
the structure, thus continuously able to remain relevant to goals and objectives of the
organization which are strategic (malhas, 2017).
Information System Diffusion and Infusion
There are some effects of infusion as well as those of diffusion that can affect the organization
directly or indirectly. If both the infusion and diffusion are low, then information system will
Document Page
only be applied in silos when processing data. When diffusion is very high and the infusion low
then there will be an existence of an information system which is decentralized. In the concept of
vice versa when infusion is high and diffusion is low, then there will be existence of information
systems which are very critical and only to operations. Lastly if both diffusion and infusion are
very high, then there is expectation of an information system that will strategic and much more
so strategic and much more so competitive thus bringing in the case of competitive advantage.

Figure 5 Zero DFD
The zero data flow diagram in this context has been explained as descriptive flow chart diagram
of Coca Cola Company. In this context the customer must place the order in the current system
and then they will directly get the feedback which is not shown clearly in the current system. As
seen in the context diagram it will be true to say that information flow from the customer to the
manufacturing company as the customer always places order of the goods that are needed and
there will be a negotiation between the two which will be in terms of the facilities available, the
cost and all the services offered.
Weaknesses of the current system
IS are some of the integral parts for any given organization without considering the size of the
organization. They are used for holding and controlling data that is needed by the organization
such as the data about such services, the products, the clients and much more the transactions as
well as what is supplied by the suppliers (Team, 20165). The existence of such information
systems has led to Coca Cola need to update their old and traditional information systems as they
have been experiencing some experiences which have played much in its delay when
manufacturing and offering the services to consumers. The following are some of the weaknesses
that has been experienced in Coca-Cola company that will need to be addressed in that the new
Document Page
system will be able to do away with them and give out deliverables or outcomes which meets the
company objectives.
1. The traditional system existing in Coca Cola company have been for containing all the
wealth information about all its over 100,000 employees, the customers, the sales or
purchases they made, the suppliers among other information. Many systems of the
current era have been known for reporting the given data in a format that is easily
understood by human beings.
2. The information system in Coca-Cola Company is not to act on its own without the help
of the users. Sometimes they have been known for stopping the operations until when the
user or the human comes and instructs it on what to do (Pratap, 2016).
3. These systems has tended to be very difficult in understanding especially for the non-
technical staffs and sometime they are considered to be so rigid in changing or even
improving.
4. Many are times the given information systems will not allow the comprehensive access to
their daily for all the regular users.
Features of the New Information system
Many companies have been using many forms of the information management system (Hamlett,
2018). There are smaller companies that have been using the database which is found in most
software’s. There are other external information management systems which have been used for
integrating the current systems by suing the given software. Some of the features are such as
discussed below.
1. Database management
This is the chief feature that has been used for its ability in storing all the data and
making it easy when retrieving them by the users. The type of the DBs that one choose
helps in determining how the IMS will responds to all the queries or requests
information.
2. Reporting
This comes in terms of reports. The IS should be good with reference to what the system
generate. There are many IS that has been created that can even produce multiple reports
depending on the needs of the organization.
