Introduction
• codes of ethics can be summarized as the set of principles and rules designed by every
institution to regulate the activities of the organization in provision of services.
• Codes o ethics is important to the security organization since it covers employee
behaviors which is accepted lawfully but can negatively impact the activities of the
organization in their operations (Lawton, 2015).
• It also has motivating statements which describes the mission and the objectives of the
organization which states the reason for the existence criminal justice and security
institutions.

Impacts of codes of ethics in organizational change and policy development
• During policy making, codes of ethics plays important role in laying down the rules
for the behaviors and gives clear groundwork for preemptive warning to the staff
within the organization.
• It ensures that the laid down rules and regulations within the institutions corresponds to
the objectives and goals of those particular institution in order to uphold transparency
in services they offer to the public .
• It defines the overall rules and policies which should be adhered to by every staff in
order to contribute to the success and continuity of the organization . For instance,
offering of satisfactory services to the members of the public will contribute to the
success of the organization .

Law enforcement codes of ethics
• This implies to the codes of ethics set to guide and regulate the activities of the all
enforcement officials in their administration work.
• Codes of ethics in law enforcement institution is necessary to control the power of
the police officers and their decision in enhancing law and order in the state.
• Leaders of various law institution influence development and adherence to the set
codes of ethical through practice of justice, transparency and obedience to the rule
of the land since they act as the examples to other law enforcement offices.

Court codes of ethics
• This relates to the set rules which regulates the behavior and actions of the judiciary
body to ensure justice and transparency in the judiciary part of thy government.
• The code of ethics in the judiciary sector provides rules to the judges on how to
conduct their rulings. For instance, according to US judiciary body, judges are not
allowed to make rulings in cases which they have personal interest; they are
expected to refer the case to neutral judge for the ruling . Such codes will ensure
justice and transparency in the judiciary body.
• Codes of ethics in courts include transparency, justice and maintenance of the rules
of the land.

Correctional code of ethics
• Correctional bodies includes prisons, jails or other institutions which helps to
ensure public safety by operating secure facilities.
• Correctional body officials has to understand that they are public services and
therefore any misbehavior or misconduct will ruin the public confidence in their
services.
• Correctional departments officials has developed some of the rules which regulates
the behaviors of their officials while attending to the captives . For instance, code of
ethics require officials to uphold and respect captives rights, privacy and dignity by
not mistreating them.

Private security code of ethics
• Private security are non government security organization which offer security
services to privately based on the agreement at a cost . Private security firms are
used to supplement government security services by guarding private business,
body gourds services, etc.
• Leaders of private security influence the adherence and development of the set code
of ethics depending on the customers’ security need therefore the codes do vary
depending on the need of the clients since they do it as a business and therefore
profit maximization is one of their main objectives (Garegnani, Merlotti & Russo,
2015).

Theories evidence in the codes
• The theories evidenced in the law enforcement codes of ethics includes normative and applied theory
which states how normative theory issues should be applied in line of duty epically within the institution.
• Theories evidenced in the court codes of ethics includes rights and virtue where judges are expected to
upheld rights of their clients and make ruling according to the set human rights and virtue of the office
they hold.
• The theory which explains the code of ethics being used by the correctional department is rights since they
have to base their codes in upholding human rights and freedom of the captives despite their crimes .
• The theory explaining code of ethics that governs the activities of the private security firms are both
normative and applied theories since they both deal with the internal organizational structures and policies
to regulate the type of security service they offer.
