3COGNITION BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION
sleep late in the
morning
I have positive beliefs like exercising in the morning as well as hard work and eating
healthy foods for being in shape and being healthy.
At the same time, I also have negative beliefs like sleeping all day through week-ends
as well as believing in the road of shortcut to success.
From the List of positive as well as negative beliefs, I would say that I would like to
keep the positive beliefs and modify the negative beliefs because I feel that negative beliefs
would not be leading me to success. Hence, I want to change such beliefs.
Question 2
Ans: I do realize that I am a human being and just like other human beings, I fully realize and
accept that I myself have certain limitations and imperfections in myself. However, I do not
consider anyone else or other individuals responsible for these. I believe that I myself am
responsible for the imperfections in me.
Despite having these imperfections, I still am fully able to accept myself. This is
because I know what kind of a person I am and being a human being, it is perfectly alright to
have limitations or imperfections in oneself. It is not necessary that everybody have to know
everything. Hence, I can fully accept myself despite of my limitations or imperfections.
Question 3
Ans: c. I must do well and get the approval of everybody whom matters to me or else I will
be a worthless person.

g. All the people who matter to me must love me and approve of me or it will be awful.
h. I must be a high achiever or I will be worthless.
k. I can be as happy as possible as is by doing as little as I can and just by enjoying life.
m. I need all the richness and the happiness of the world.
Question 4
Ans: I being a human being myself, my life is affected by the irrational beliefs which I have.
This is true not just for me, but also for other human beings in the world. Irrational beliefs
affect my life in the sense that these beliefs make me feel that these beliefs are going to be
achieved and then I get disappointed when I realize that these were just dreams which would
never be fulfilled because they are impossible to reach at my level.
I judge on the basis of the beliefs that I have at a particular time. For e.g. when I have
certain beliefs, I can understand whether these beliefs are rational or irrational for me. This
helps me to understand and make the division between which of the beliefs of mine are
rational and also which of the beliefs of mine are irrational in nature. This helps me to
understand and make the divisions based on those.
Question 5

My final semesters were in the month of June. June is only the next month and here
I had no idea about what was on the syllabus and what are the things I should have
studied for the theoretical parts or the practical. Even my dissertation was in-

Belief (B)
I cannot believe I failed in my semesters. I tried… I tried so hard to study as much as I
can for the semesters but all of that hard work went down the drain for me. I tried
reading as much as I could for the semesters but I guess it still was not enough to pass
the semester. This sucks…even after trying so much to pass…. I failed. I do not know
what to do now.
Consequences (C)
I have failed in the semesters. Not just any semester… but my final semester. Now I do
not know what will become of me. I do not know whether I will get a chance at
education again. This is so embarrassing.
