Introduction
 Brain is the most beautiful, smart but complex part of human
body. By scientists and neurologists, this part of body is
considered an incredible one, having many infinite powers.
Studies, suggests that Human so far have not been able to use
even 1% of powers of brain completely, and if Human enables to
secure half of powers of brain, then it can cater superficiality and
much enlightenment, that could help in making major thought
and personality transformations not only in individual himself but
on to others as well.

Stages of Memory
To help understanding ability of memory to interpret and store any
such information, three stages of memory bare important to
understand to through which information passes, these stages are
Sensory memory, Short-term and Long-term memory. And the
processes that are involved, namely encoding storage and retrieval.

 Sensory memory- Sensory memory is stage where any
information last for a brief time. After this stage, if information is
not passed on for further processing to next stages, that
information ends and is eventually forgotten.
 Short-term memory- Passing on next from sensory memory,
memories meant to support few events and sights received from
outer world, next stage in line through which any information
passes is short-term memory.
 Long-term memory- From Short-term memory if information
enters long term memory, than it can be stored for weeks,
months, years or forever.

Hence it can be understood that, any information generated in mind,
passes through three stages of encoding and storage and retrieval,
any informations not useful are not stored for much time and they
are easily forgotten.

Defining steps of Memory
Three processes that are involved in making any input or
information to brain into a memory includes three steps, encoding,
storage and retrieval.
 Encoding- Encoding is step of registering any information.
Under this process information is received, processed and
combined to conclude holistic information about the information.
 Storage- Storage is the step when information, that has been
encoded and given meaningful reason to become memory, is kept
for sometime in mind.
 Retrieval of information- Retrieval is the process of memory,
which gives memory a true meaning to its nature.

Conclusion
This discussion have helped understanding that how information
from outer world first conceived in human brain travels through
different processes to become memory, which is of three types. Also,
the steps that are involved in shaping any information to a memory.
An insight about role of brain as a body part in developing basis of
human understanding and perception can be gained.
