Portfolio 2 Reflective Writing
Recently I have given an interview for the post of senior consultant in a technology firm. During
that interview, I had a negative experience which was regarding the existing employees of the
company. The interviewer asked me several questions regarding the working process and I have
answered all of the questions accordingly but at the time of salary discussion, the interviewer
offered a very low amount of salary. The main thing was that some other candidates have given
the same interview for the same post but their salary package was more than my salary package.
When I asked the interviewer for the reason about the salary difference, they said that my basic
skills are not as effective as other candidates. From this experience, I have learned to focus on
my basics skills while giving an interview for the job. My qualifications and job experience were
higher in comparison to the other candidates but still, I have got lower salary package.
In this situation I could have talked to the senior level person in the company regarding this
otherwise I could improve my basic communication skills and abilities and go for the interview
again. Maybe I was not able to represent myself according to the expectations of the interviewer
that is why I had this negative experience. Along with that, the other candidates had effective
communication skills and they know how to represent themselves in front of the interviewer. In
that situation, I must have used comprehensive verbal skills to convince the interviewer with my
qualifications and working abilities. It might have changed the interviewer’s mind and he might
have offered me a better salary package.
As I had this experience so I will prepare myself for the future opportunities by improving my
general communication skills along with my body language. Along with work knowledge,
communication skills are also required because it helps to put a positive impression on the
interviewer. There were both positive and negative impacts of that negative experience. The
positive impact is that I have improved my communication skills and verbal abilities. After that,
now I got some better opportunities because of my better communication and appropriate
behaviour. The negative impact of that experience was that I had to reject that salary offer which
was a little bit disappointing. These experiences have both good and bad outcomes that can be
used for the betterment of future opportunities. If I would not have improved my skills then I
would not be able to overcome my limitations. So this negative experience explains that only

knowledge is not sufficient to grab an opportunity, we must know the way we can represent us
better in front of an interviewer or senior person.

Portfolio 3 Responding to an Ethical Scenario
As per the situation is given in the scenario, I will go to my lecturer and tell them that my friends
do not have written their assignments themselves and they paid some ghostwriting company for
completing their assignments. I will do this because I don’t want my friends to get influenced by
the illegal activities as it will be harmful to their future references. I also agree that they will get
punished for this but in future, they will not repeat that mistake which will help them to gain
their knowledge and get good grades on their own. This will also be right for the other students
in my class who are doing hard work for their assignments to get good grades and their work will
not be wasted due to the purchased assignments. This will affect then negatively temporarily but
their future reference will be improved by the actions taken by me and the lecturer.
In accordance with the documents of ACS, academic cheating is illegal and for this activity, the
students can be suspended from the university for a specific time. As per my action, my friends
might get this punishment and their entry will be restricted from the university but their study
will be improved after this and they will learn to perform their assignment themselves. If I would
not have told my lecturer about this, then also there was a risk of getting identified for the
academic cheating. Because the lecturer asks the students regarding the work they have done in
their assignments and my friends would not be able to answer their questions. This would have
risked their entire assessment and submission and they would have hot zero grades (McDermid,
2015).
There are some codes of ethics in ACS which indicates that each work should be done with
honesty, professional development and competence and all these ethics are broken by my
friends. I have chosen to go against them for their own benefit that will reflect in long-term in
their life. Along with that, it will help my friends in their professional development. Professional
development is essential for working in a company or a place after getting graduated from the
university.
As per the ACS Code of Professional Conduct, professionalism must be maintained within the
university and academic cheating put a negative impact on these ethics of ACS. I might lose my
friends but their quality of life will be enhanced that comes under the ACS does of professional

conduct. Along with that, the other students of the university will also get to know the negative
impacts of the academic cheating and they will follow the rules and ethics of ACS (Turel, et. al.,
2016).

Part A Justification
The listening and verbal communication skills that have been learned in the unit have been
effectively able to apply while confronting the viva and written examination. These skills have
helped me to perform well in the test. The reading skills are very important which I have used
effectively at the time of oral presentation of the work that has prepared. As a team, I and my
classmates carry out the study so for gathering the information we divided the tasks to each
member equally which lead us to attain an effective result. I have a good understanding of all the
situations and can mold myself accordingly, so I managed and tried to cope up with the team to
attain effective results. The case of the students of Central Queensland University of making the
assignments get done by Ghostwriters team made me understand about the legal and ethical
aspects which are very important and also the things have to keep safe and secured. The diversity
and intercultural competencies skills are used at different tasks appropriately the people are there
who believes in hard working whereas some beliefs in smart working so according to their nature
the tasks and works has assigned to them. The internet is one of the communication technologies
that have been collaboratively used. This is an organisation can be effectively introduced to
convey any information and message. The performance outcome of the people has been
examined by comparing the past and present working this helped in evaluating the ICT
technologies so that communication can be improved.
Part B Feedback
The unit learning put of ICT has helped in understanding different things about the
communication skills which is helpful in attaining an effective professional life. The information
and the data that has been retrieved from this study has assisted in knowing about the different
ways a communication can be done along with this the effectiveness of all the types of
communication has understood effectively. This is very useful and helpful as an individual as
with the help of this a person can be able to communicate effectively with the other party.
Presently, I believe that I have attained many things and have improved my personal and
professional skills with the help of this. The most important things that I felt were good about

this unit is that there is detailed information about the communication system which is assisting
one to enhance the skills. Also, the leaner is able to know about the information that is necessary
in a professional world. The improvement area that I felt is that the deliverance of the subjective
aspect should have done in a more practical manner so that practical knowledge could have
increased.
