1COLLEGE ADMISSION ESSAY
I always wanted to make some meaningful and valuable contribution in the life of
others but I have got very less opportunities to do so. However, I always try to give my best
whenever I get such chances as I believe that it is highly fulfilling to be involved in such
activities where I can benefit others and help them to lead their life in better ways, even
though if I do not get any benefit for doing so. I would like to share an experience where I
made a significant contribution in the life of a person in which doing a greater good was my
major focus. One day, when I was returning to my home driving my car, I saw a very young
boy, might be of 12 to 15 years old, selling huge collections of books. He was with a very
heavy bag fully loaded with books and also was handling 5 books in hand. His shoes were
torn apart but there was nothing I saw breaking the strength of that book seller. He was truly
an inspiration for me and I never thought about life in that way. Life was something very
simple for me as I never had to cry twice for anything. I got everything I wanted and
therefore, that very day, was the day I felt deep hurt. As I used to get enough pocket money
from my parents, I saved much of them for myself. That day, I thought that if I can help this
boy out with getting him admitted in a school, it would be the best usage of the money that I
saved so long. I went to him and asked for the price of all the books that he carried. Some
books were much expensive and some were cheaper than 3 dollars. Every books had different
price but since I was asking for all the books, he said that he will give me the flat price of 3
dollars for each. I immediately bought them and asked my driver to take those book and that
heavy bag and keep in the car. I gave him 175 dollars and I must say that it was the best smile
I have ever seen in my life. The boy was very happy and I took him with myself to my house
and introduced him with my parents. I asked them to make his admission in the nearby school
so that he could study and help him too to make his career. My parents were also very happy
to see me doing such a great deed and they helped me their best. Today, he is in grade 4 and
is doing really great in his academic career. I knew that there was something special in him

right from the day I met him. Although, it was a great challenge for me to make my parents
agree as the boy was a complete stranger for us but still, I was successful and seeing him
going to school, smiling and making his life better is the greatest reward that I could ever get.
