ARTICLE REVIEW 2
Article: Tuition-Free College Could Cost Less Than You Think
1. The article ‘Tuition-Free College Could Cost Less Than You Think’ written by David
Deming is published on 19 July, 2019. I have chosen this article to be reviewed so as to
know the requirement of the tuition free college and its economic effects. This article
helps to know the pros and cons of tuition free colleges according to the economic view
(Clark, 2017).
2. The topic of this article is relevant and very important in the business. The reason is that
the tuition free colleges will provide the opportunity to the lower income students to get
the graduation degree. There are some students who drop out due to the lack of
capability to make payment of the tuition fee for all the years. Getting rid of tuition will
end the reason for not getting graduation degree. It will serve to increase the graduation
rate of students, as fewer children will realize a requirement drop to part time status or
take the break from teaching for the economic reason. However, the question is that if
USA will follow the tuition free college policy, then where will the amount come
from? In this situation, the only source is tax. Who gets taxed appears to differ based on
who is discussing, however this appears certain that the upper echelons of the societies of
USA would observe enhanced tax if it passes. In this way, it will enhance upper middle
class too. There is also a possibility that the money will come from Wall Street
speculation tax. The main thing is to be considered is that, all people know is that
someone would make payment of the dues by the tax. The doubt of who would have the
burden is not creating various people of America at ease (Sutton, 2018).

3. By reading this article, it is found that it is clearly a best thing the easy assurance of zero
tuition, no matter what the income of family, is in itself the effectual push that is likely to
draw attention of lower income people to the colleges (Andersen, 2019). But this tuition
free college policy also draws the attention of certain richer students, who will come to
college anyhow. In this way, the decreased tuition will be only the bonus for them. The
students in the college are able to get graduation degree with below 10000 dollars in
students loan debt, then those are blessed (average is 37,000).On the other hand, the
children from other nations who do not have tuition already have that luxury; most of the
loan come from expenditures of living as well as the books. In the absence of weight of
student’s loan debt, more former students of college may purchase the house more
willingly than renting flats. The students can buy car and have healthy foodstuff. These
students can also travel more. In conclusion, it can say that these students can contribute
more to economy (Deming, 2019).
