Problem Statement
College Community Hospital offers medical services in terms of surgery, adult medical,
orthopedic as well as psychiatric care to their needful patients. The laboratory of the medical
centre performs about 3000 blood test every week and the most common test conducted for the
patients is complete blood count, electrolytes serum, Kidney function testing and potassium test
and blood sugar testing. The hospital conducts the test and based on the blood report the doctors
starts the patients diagnosis.
However, the performance of the laboratory is very slow. Due to delay delivery of reports
the diagnosis also starts in late which may cause risk for serious patients. However, may similar
service provider companies are there but due to lack of resource and cost management strategies
the numbers of staffs and patients of the medical center are decreasing. Besides improper cost
and quality management plan the other areas that causes problems for the medical center include
dissatisfaction among the nursing staffs and physicians for slow lab testing turnaround and issues
with proper scheduling for team meetings.
Goal Statement

respective risk mitigation plan. For this case scenario it is identified that the medical centre is
suffering from improper quality and cost management plan. In order to improve the overall
