The essay talks about the incident that took place when I was in City Tech College
that taught me about the art of perseverance. The essay states that I was abused in the college
by my seniors that helped me in consolidating my inner strength. The incident took place on
that of playground of the college that completely shook me. The essay states how the incident
left a deep impression on me and helped me in learning about a lot of things.
I was studying in City Tech College in Nigeria when I encountered a personal
experience that had a deep impression on me. The incident that happened was that I was
abused and hit in the playground of the college and this had a negative effect on me. I feel
uncomfortable when I am with the girls. This particular act was carried out in front of the
girls so that I would feel embarrassed. This made me feel insecure in the college as this
incident drew the attention of a large number of people in the College. The senior college
students could not accept me completely and they wanted to insult me in front of the whole
college. The senior students of the college asked me to misbehave with one of the girl of the
college as they knew that I was uncomfortable around the girls. The act was carried out in
front of the girls so that I would become embarrassed. The incident was solved with the help
of initiative taken by the college professors. I was however able to overcome the trauma of
this incident as I was able to grow strong after this incident. I was able to rise above my
introvert nature after this incident and I started to socialize in the right manner. The incident
was not reported as I thought that solving it in a peaceful manner would be a wise step on my
part.
The people who were involved in addition to me were the senior students of the
college who took the opportunity of hitting me when I was on the playground. This took
place on the playground of City Tech College that was generally used for playing sports. The

students of the college used the playground for their recreation. The playground was used by
them and for talking with their classmates which helped in relieving their minds.
It occurred in 2017 when I was studying in the first year at the college. I was new to
the college and the senior students of the college took advantage of my introverted nature and
harassed me. I am shy by nature and so I could not get along with the other students of my
college. I am not comfortable with the females in my college and this caught the attention of
the senior students in the college.
There has been positive outcome from this incident. This incident taught me that it
was important to maintain composure even in the moments of acute stress. I was however
able to draw courage from this incident and started to learn the art of socialization as a result
of this incident. This incident has helped me in becoming gentler and evolving as a more
caring individual. I have learnt how to be gentle in various kinds of circumstances in life with
the help of this incident.
