Aims of Study
As mentioned before, this paper will:
- Provide details as to why effective habits of study are provided at the college level.
- Mention the study habits that college students must develop to learn and get better
grades.
Hypothesis
This activity is charged with soliciting perceptions of undergraduate students’ study
habits. Second, and most importantly, this activity will determine the factors that influence study
habits (Matrix, 2018).
Introduction
Most educators are exploring the fact that some students were not well taught in
elementary and high school. Because of such a case, these students are currently incapable of
applying study knowledge even if study materials exist. On the same note, students are not aware
of proper study methods. As a result, several potentials and talents are underdeveloped because
little attention is given to the personal and academic growth of these students (Kumar, 2015, pg.
19). Several factors exist that influence the academic achievement of students among which
study habits exist. According to research outcomes, study habits are attributed to a couple of
factors including performing exercises and homework, taking notes, as well as reading among
others. As a result, institutions are required to have students trained on strategies and skills of
studying. Such would have the study habits of students boosted as well as their academic

performance. Many skills are associated with studying are taught in classes while others are
gained from co-curricular activities (Kumar, 2015, pg. 20).
Finishing Homework
Giving homework to students is vital. Through homework, parents have an opportunity to
interact with their children. Apart from that, they are also able to understand their students’
learning content to provide a different dimension of academic support to the children. According
to research activities on study habits, when students do homework, parents do homework as well.
It is so because this situation presents parents with the opportunity to model their children’s
behavior as well as help them boots they study habits. When students do homework, some of the
qualities they are likely to develop are:
- Taking responsibility
- Proper time management
- Perseverance and increased self-esteem
Though the qualities named above cannot be measured using normal tests, a lot of attention is
given to perseverance since it is an essential skill towards ensuring students’ success. Having
regular accomplishments in the form of finishing homework help in building student’s self-
esteem which then translates to improved physical health and mental activity (Weimer, 2015).
Taking Notes
Note-taking gives students the capability of taking in information, processing it, getting it
restructured, and then presenting it on a sheet in a way that others can understand. For students
that don’t have the skill, they won’t efficiently take notes. Several research activities show that

giving students PowerPoint slides or teacher-prepared notes does not boost their performance.
Students should be in a position of taking notes meaningfully. The hypothesis of such research
activities is that students with higher academic potentials are mostly those who take notes on
their own (Fuglei, 2013).
Reading Text Books
Reading books is a good study habit in several ways. By reading, students will develop
time management and become responsible just like doing assignments. Other qualities developed
are:
- Boosting creativity
- Improved writing skills
- Memory enhancement
- Developing thinking and analytical skills
Recommendation
In relation to this study activity, students; study habits determine their personal
characteristics in relation to academics (Matrix, 2018). To improve academically, students need
to boost their study habits by:
- Doing their homework appropriately
- Taking notes and;
- Improving their reading skills by reading more

Conclusion
Finally, yet importantly, this activity has outlined existing factors that influence students’
academic achievement through their study habits exist (Weimer, 2015). As aforementioned,
research outcomes show that study habits are attributed to a couple of factors including
performing exercises and homework, taking notes, as well as reading among others; all of which
have been discussed. Therefore, institutions are required to have students trained on strategies
and skills of studying. Such would have the study habits of students boosted as well as their
academic performance (Weimer, 2015).
