INTRODUCTION
Communication is the process of sharing views, ideas, fact and many more from one person
to another. This study will highlight the general barriers in effective communication in Mr Fishy
restaurant. Furthermore, assignment will also discuss the strategies for overcoming the barrier in
communication. Lastly, report will demonstrate the awareness of culture differences on
communication & negotiation in Mr Fishy restaurant.

Common barriers and challenges in effective communication
Effective communication defined as communication between two or more individuals
and it aids to foster the better working relationship. Thus, common barriers and challenges to
effective as are-
Cultural Differences: The basic values of the society differ from culture to culture such
as the dresses, food, religious values and many more. In Mr Fishy the employees are from
different countries like UK, Spain, Norway and other, so the culture value of employees differs a
lot.
Emotional barriers: The emotional barrier differ from person to person as some can't
easily express their feelings and emotions to others (Kanki, 2019). There are around 20
employees in Mr Fishy restaurant and the maturity level of every employee is different.
Language and Accent Barrier: The most important tool of the communication is language.
The First language of every country is different so as the ascent. In Mr Fishy restaurant people
work from different countries of Europe, so the first languages and accent of the employees are
different this leads lack in understand among the staff members.

Strategies to overcome communication barriers
Communication barriers is term prevents from receiving and understanding the message
to convey information. Therefore, strategies to overcome communication barriers as are-
Ask Questions: It aids to overcome the communication barrier with asking question
about the things which are not understandable. Employees of Mr Fishy should make interactions
with one another as this aid to cope up the difficulties in understanding their colleagues and
manager. This can be effective strategy to overcome communication barrier (Smith, 2019).

Follow-up communication: To overcome the barriers and challenges the managers and
employees should always try to follow-up communication. This will help the management of Mr
Fishy to identify and eliminate the weakness of communication in their organization Therefore, it
leads to streamline business functions in effective and efficient mode.
Avoiding Slang: Use of casual language creates a major barrier to effective communication.
Avoiding use of slang and casual language can help the management to keep their team on the
same page. The management as well as the employees of the MR fishy should avoid
inappropriate language to communicate with each other. It will help the firm to overcome the
barriers of effectively communicate.

Culture defined as crucial element that plays important role in shaping the style of
communication. Thus, awareness of culture influence on communication defined in below

Appreciate the differences- Culture is term that is built on more than just food, music,
clothing and art. Therefore, it is inclusive of stories, values and belief that passed down through
generation. Employee of quoted entity must learn to value the culture contribution and must
perform collaboratively.
Build trust- It is the building block of good communication. Thus, ineffective
communication causes mistrust. However, it must be timely, consistent and truthful.
Access culture- To promote effective communication, there is need to examine the culture
and to identify the various communication channels (Hemesath and et.al., 2019). Accessing the
culture is crucial step in addressing communication problems.
Promote healthy working environment: Positive environment improves culture diversity,
teamwork and raises the morale. However, it also supports to reduce the stress in employees.
Additionally, great company culture aids to keep employee productive and creates the best
workplace culture.

role in success of business. This report is based on communication of Mr Fishy, as its engaged in
